Tonight, Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin attended the inauguration ceremony of the newly built Republic Square of Serbia in East New Sarajevo together with Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, and said that Preserving the Republika Srpska and its development is one of Serbia’s priorities.
“The Republic of Serbia, led by Aleksandar Vučić, does not forget the Serbs wherever they live. Serbia is one of our foreign policy priorities. In all our documents, from the National Defense Strategy to the relevant parliamentary decisions, it is said that Preserving the Republika Srpska and its development is one of the priorities of the Republic of Serbia and the obligations of all organs of the Republic of Serbia, “said Vulin, who was the envoy of the President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić, at the inauguration from the square tonight.
The construction of the Republic of Serbia Square in East New Sarajevo was funded by the Government of the Republic of Srpska with funds from donors from the Government of the Republic of Serbia, and the value of the donation is one million euros.
“This is a way to show all the citizens of the Republika Srpska how much Serbia cares and how much they want and wish to make the lives of all the citizens of the Republika Srpska better, better and easier. President Aleksandar Vučić always takes special care when making key and important decisions about the fate of the Serbian people. “How will those decisions treat all Serbs, regardless of where they live, and of course especially the Republika Srpska?” the defense minister said in a release.
He stressed that tonight he is especially proud that, as the envoy of the President of the Republic, he can share joy with the citizens of East New Sarajevo and that he can tell those gathered in Republic Square that the Republic of Serbia will always think, protect and defend your Republika Srpska.
President Vučić received the plaque from the East New Sarajevo Municipality, which was presented to Minister Vulin by Mayor Ljubiša Ćosić tonight, as President Vučić’s envoy.
The Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, speaking of the importance of this square, pointed out that all this was done because President Vučić wanted to help these people.
“This is a message that Serbia sees us as part of itself. We stay here, but we want to be citizens of Serbia. We are not Bosnian Serbs, we are Serbs. Those Serbs who made a lot of sacrifices in their freedom, who are looking at Serbia. Serbia is for us a safe haven, a safe prey, “said Dodik.
East New Sarajevo Municipality Mayor Ljubiša Ćosić welcomed the opportunity to open the Republic Square of Serbia together tonight, adding that the square is one of the most beautiful places in the Republic of Srpska and a meeting place .
At the end of the opening ceremony, Minister Vulin, Milorad Dodik and Chief Cosic placed a time capsule on the foundations of the future Monument to the Family, which will adorn the central part of the square.
The area of the square around the sports and business center is about 18,000 square meters, fountains, public fountains, benches have been enabled and the landscaping has been completed. It is a demonstration-type plaza, which is also equipped with street furniture.
The central part of the square is intended for the construction of a monument to the family, which will be unveiled in 2021, and which symbolizes the ties between the Republic of Serbia and the Republika Srpska, as well as the family, which is a symbol of the gathering of the Sarajevo Serbs during the construction of Serbia and East Sarajevo.
The inauguration of the Republic of Serbia Square in East New Sarajevo was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Defense for Defense Policy Milan Ranković, the Commander of the 250 Missile Brigade for PVD, Brigadier General Tiosav Janković and the Envoy of the Republic of Serbia, Colonel Danko Štrbac.
