According to him, he repents and does not question the accusation, which accuses him of a serious act against road safety. As the defense accepted all the prosecution’s evidence and no one had any new ones, Milikić’s verdict is scheduled for February 10.

He told the court that he had been working since seven in the morning that day and that he would arrive home at 5.30 in the afternoon. He was tired and hungry, because he hadn’t eaten all day and there was no food in the fridge, so he sent a message through the app on his phone.

– Then I had two beers, and when I received the information that the food could only be delivered in an hour and a half, I decided to go by truck to the nearest fast food restaurant, because outside it was raining – said Milikić. – By the way, I never use the van in private, because the owner did not allow it. On the way home, I saw the city bus in front of me suddenly slow down and thinking that it was stopping at the station, I began to circle it out of inertia. I didn’t see the pedestrian immediately and the visibility was bad, because the lighting wasn’t strong and it was raining. When I noticed it, I touched the steering wheel, but unfortunately I hit it. I lost control and collided with a parked vehicle.

Before the accident, he had only eight months of driving experience.

In their closing arguments, the prosecution demanded that Milikić be convicted, because he did not comply with a series of traffic regulations and caused an accident in which Pavle Stanković died in a pedestrian crossing, which he did not influence. His defense attorney, Djordje Kalanj, noted that the defense did not question anything, which Milikic sincerely regrets, that he did not notice the crosswalk, that he was not convicted before, and that he only had eight months of driving experience before the accident.

The defendant says he then got out of the truck and clutched his head:

– I was in shock and yelled at them to call the police and the ambulance. He smoked cigarettes one by one and waited for them to arrive. This is not an excuse for me, it is very difficult for me, not a day goes by without me remembering it, I’m just talking about what happened. His mother’s sister and uncle tried several times to express their condolences to their family, but they refused and I understand them. When asked by Judge Milikić, he said that he did not dispute that he had 1.17 per thousand alcohol in his blood, that he was driving 70 kilometers per hour and that 50 was allowed, and that he knew that was not allowed.
