This week, the president of SPAS met with the president of Serbia and the leader of the SNS, Aleksandar Vučić, the main “creator” of the new government, at a working lunch in a Chinese restaurant, which Vučić informed the public on his page official Instagram “Buducnost Srbije”. He called Shapic and himself “a duo from New Belgrade.”

In political and diplomatic circles, it is speculated that Šapić turned down Vučić’s offer to be minister, because he wants to run for mayor of Belgrade.

According to one of the scenarios, the SNS would support Shapic in that “race” and, in return, the SPAS leader would call the voters of his party to vote for Vucic in the presidential elections.

At the same time, it is claimed that instead of Aleksandar Šapić, who is currently still the mayor of New Belgrade, Ratko Dmitrović, a SPAS official and former editor-in-chief of Večernji novosti, will become a minister in the newly developed family care department inserted.

Sapic has been swimming in political waters for more than a decade.

In 2009, he became an assistant to the then Mayor of Belgrade, Dragan Djilas, and served in that role until the election for President of the Municipality of New Belgrade in June 2012.

In July 2011, he was appointed Chairman of the Municipal Board of the Democratic Party in Belgrade, and resigned in 2013. At the end of 2014, he also left the DS. After half a year he published an open letter, in which he affirmed that he was leaving the party “not for the organization but for the people”, recalling that he gave up his personal property, a bar, for a loan to pay off the party’s debts.

Even after the 2016 local elections, he continued to lead the largest municipality in Belgrade.

In July 2018 he founded SPAS and became president of that political organization.

At the end of 2019, he reached a political cooperation agreement with the leader of Healthy Serbia, Milan Stamatović, but in early 2020, he announced that SPAS would still only go to the parliamentary elections.

He was born on June 1, 1978 in Belgrade.

He is officially the best water polo scorer in the history of the former Yugoslavia and is considered by many to be one of the best water polo players in the world of all time.

He graduated from the Faculty of Management and Administration in 2003 and received his master’s degree five years later.

He received his Ph.D. from Union University’s College of Industrial Management 2012, but in mid-2014, his Ph.D. thesis came under public scrutiny on suspicion of plagiarism. Union University has not officially confirmed or ruled out such suspicions.

He is currently in a second marriage, in which he has two children.
