The session of the Presidency of the Serbian Progressive Party is officially scheduled for Tuesday, October 20 at noon.
In that session, the current Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, who received a new mandate, should announce the names of the new ministers, but also announce which other parties will enter the government as coalition partners of the SNS.
The session will take place at the SNS facilities in New Belgrade. The president of Serbia and the SNS, Aleksandar Vučić, said last Wednesday that the composition of the new government will be known no later than Monday, recalls the Beta agency.
He previously announced that the government would be formed first in late August, then in late September and then in mid-October. The constitutional deadline for the formation of a new government expires on November 3.
It is speculated that Aleksandar Šapić’s Savior will be the biggest refreshment in the new government and that he will get a ministerial post. This assertion is supported by the way in which the local parliament of the municipality of New Belgrade was constituted on September 8.
Then the leader of the SPAS and the former president of the municipality unanimously became president of the local assembly. 48 out of a total of 49 councilors voted for him, that is, those elected from the SNS list, as well as from the SPS list. Local cooperation is taken as an important sign of whether the party is entering the governing coalition at the state level.
If Šapić gets one ministry, the Ivica Dačić socialists should get two: one for Dačić himself and the other from the energy department for Aleksandar Antić.
According to the media, the SPS gained a lower participation of power at the local level after the June 21 elections than before, so the same thing is expected to happen at the state level, that the current number of ministers will be reduced by half.
A surprise is also expected regarding the announced ministry of social dialogue, which, according to some speculation, should be handed over to someone from the opposition who participated in the elections but did not pass the census.
In some circles, Gordana Comic, a former DS deputy, is mentioned as a solution for that position, whose proposals on the representation of women on electoral lists were accepted. Comic was a candidate for the UDS list and did not respond to Danas’ question to confirm or reject these speculations.
The public is also expecting changes in the force departments, and the castling of ministers is seen as the biggest surprise in political and security circles. It is speculated that Aleksandar Vulin will become the head of the BIA and that he claims that he does not want to pressure Vučić for a ministerial post.
The current head of the BIA, Bratislav Gasic, could become the Minister of Police, while Nebojsa Stefanovic should become the head of the Ministry of Defense.
Zlatibor Loncar remains Minister of Health, supposedly, and Branislav Nedimovic, Minister of Agriculture. This would settle the most influential groups within the SNS, it is affirmed in political and security circles, but the possibility of surprises is not excluded.
With the announcement of the composition of the new government, it is useful to know who will be the new leadership of the Serbian Parliament, as it is stated that the current Speaker of the Parliament, Maja Gojković, is likely to become Minister of Culture.
SNS deputy Vladimir Orlić is mentioned in place of the speaker of parliament, but Slavica Đukić Dejanović of the SPS is also mentioned, who has already held that position once in the recent past.
