For the first time, we had more than 2,000 new infections in a day, almost 4,600 in the last 48 hours, the so-called Kon’s coefficient or the relationship between the number of tested and the number of positives at a time exceeded 20 percent, the third wave is largely spilling over from Belgrade to other cities in Serbia, but experts are more concerned about another fact: the urgent filling of the hospital!
– In 24 hours, just under 400 COVID-positive patients had to be hospitalized, of which about 150 in Belgrade – said the Minister of Health, Zlatibor Loncar, yesterday after a meeting with the hospital directors.
And the figures are very clear: two days ago, we had 1,397 people hospitalized in health institutions throughout Serbia, today up to 2,307!
Fortunately, these are actually even smaller numbers than what we recorded in the first two corona waves. In the first spring attack, we had the highest number of hospitalized on April 19: 3,900, while the absolute record since the start of the coronavirus virus epidemic in our country was recorded during the summer wave of July 15, when we had up to 4,858 patients in hospital beds.
Since the first case of the crown, which was registered on March 6, until today, the authorities have opened several temporary hospitals, such as those at the Belgrade Fair and Belgrade Arena, then at the Novi Sad Fair, in Nis “Silla “, but also in other places.
With the main hit of the third wave still expected in the next seven to ten days, there is no doubt that hospital capabilities will accelerate in the coming days.
