The Krajina Serb Association “Prelo” of Chicago started an action to collect financial donations to help Serbs and the Serbian church in Banija and part of Kordun, who were exposed to a devastating earthquake in the previous days.

US Serbs and all people of good will can send donations by check by mail or online through the “Gofundme” platform, which receives payments from most of the world.

A large community of Banija and Kordun Serbs live in the United States and Canada, and many have relatives living there.

“Prela” board member Dusko Cuckovic says that even before the earthquake in Banja, life was hard, that many returnees were in ramshackle houses in remote villages, without electricity, water and roads, and that after the earthquake they ran out of what they had. while all Serbian churches were damaged and some were completely demolished.

“That is why we at the Krajina Prelo Serb Association in Chicago decided to send aid to these compatriots and the suffering Serbian church,” he said.

All money raised, as agreed, will be sent to the assigned account of the Diocese of Upper Karlovac, which is preparing a special fund for reconstruction after the earthquake.
