Russia and Serbia are ready.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin had one of the longest phone conversations this morning.
– Special attention is paid to the issue of Kosovo regulation. Aleksandar Vučić briefed me on the talks that took place in Washington on September 4 and in Brussels on September 7, 2020, the Russian president said in a statement.

The President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, spoke by phone with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and briefed him on the talks in Washington and Brussels. On this occasion, President Vučić and President Putin exchanged views on the situation in the Balkans and discussed current issues of the Serbian-Russian strategic partnership, including the development of dialogue at the highest level. The two interlocutors confirmed that Serbia and Russia are sincere friends, whose cooperation is based on mutual trust. President Vučić emphasized that Serbia is a militarily neutral country, and President Putin welcomed Serbia’s strong commitment. “Regardless of the weight and complexity of its geopolitical, military, security and economic position, Serbia will uphold the principles of military neutrality and will remain a true and correct partner of the Russian Federation,” emphasized President Vučić. President Vučić expressed his gratitude to President Putin for Russia’s unwavering support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, as well as for his efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region. President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian Federation will provide political support to Serbia in its efforts to preserve its territorial integrity and coordinate its foreign policy actions with Serbia, all with the aim of protecting international public order. President Vučić and President Putin pointed out that the economic ties between Serbia and Russia are constantly strengthening, but that the opportunities for cooperation in the field of economics are much greater than those used, so there is room for new joint projects.

Putin confirmed the invariability of Russia’s principled position regarding the finding of a compromise and a balanced solution acceptable to Belgrade, which must be approved by the UN Security Council.

Current issues of the strategic partnership between Russia and Serbia were discussed.
The Russian side highly appreciated the personal contribution of Aleksandar Vučić to the development of Russian-Serbian relations.
The readiness to continue to cooperate closely with him on the entire spectrum of issues on the bilateral, regional and international agenda was highlighted.
