Agriculture Minister Branislav Nedimović fought for the crown at the end of last year, and now, for the first time, he speaks in public about treatment at the Infectious Diseases Clinic, oxygen, family, but also how he managed to get up at night to eat bacon and sauerkraut.
In mid-November, he had a meeting with the Italians, and then that week, on November 22, the Minister of Football played a match for his Kuzmin Border Guard.
– I played the first part and they took me out because I ran badly. He didn’t even know he was infected. Of course, I didn’t score a goal. We played 2: 2, a story for Kurir Nedimović.
Immediately after, the temperature started, above 39 degrees Celsius. The rapid test was negative, but the PCR showed the true condition: corona. And then worse, bilateral pneumonia. He was admitted to the KCS Infectious Disease Clinic, and doctors Goran Stevanović and Ivana Milošević and other doctors cared for him for nine days.
– I had a very high temperature that did not drop at all. That made me very nervous. The blood results weren’t good and the gas exchange was just bad so they put oxygen on me. And at home, worse and worse, wife, son, daughter, all three begin to have pneumonia. You care more for them than for yourself, and that’s why I concealed from them that I was on oxygen. Don’t worry about them – says Nedimović.
He received all the necessary therapy, including twice for the actor, who, as he says, did his job and immediately felt better. After just nine days, he was released for home treatment.
– Dr. Stevanović told me that I was lucky not to play the second half of that match. I opened my lungs with that run and didn’t even know I was infected. If he continued playing, he would still be evil – says Nedimović.
As the protocol dictates, he also received corticosteroid therapy, and it also brought him constant hunger.
– When I left the hospital, because of these corticosteroids, I got up at one thirty in the morning to bake eggs and eat them with sauerkraut. And at three thirty in the morning I fried bacon and sauerkraut. I gained 7-8 pounds. And my appetite in the house increased. We all grew up like teddy bears – Nedimović laughs, who says he doesn’t have a picture of the hospital bed:
– I wasn’t there until the painting. I just looked at those scaffolds out the window, they’re all over the place Infectious. And when I got out, I took a selfie on the patio. To remember.
Until 15 days ago I felt difficulties.
– It was a pain in the chest, and then I coughed the eighth passenger and everything stopped hurting. After a week, I slowly started physical activities. With the crown, patience is the most important thing, it cannot be cured overnight. And trust the doctors. What survived those nurses, doctors? It is not that they are heroes, but hyperheroes of our time – Nedimović concludes.

– Of the five who were at that meeting, four suffered from severe pneumonia. And it’s incredible that after that game I was sitting with my teammates from the club, the four of us were driving in the car and there was nothing for anyone.
