About 4,000 cubic meters of garbage reached the Visegrad dam

VISEGRAD – About four thousand cubic meters of floating debris reached the crown of the dam in Visegrad due to the breakage of a special pinion, which could endanger the work of the “Hydroelectric Power Plant in Drina”, said the director of this company, Nedeljko Perisic.

Perisic told reporters that due to the large amount of water that passed through the Drina in recent days, the upper chain that was supposed to keep the floating debris broke, and with which the hydroelectric plant has a problem for decades, report the Bosnia and Herzegovina media.

He stated that they are struggling with this problem on their own and that their knowledge is not optimistic because more waste could result.

“In the upper reaches of the Drina River, there are tens of thousands of cubic meters of floating debris coming from the tributaries of the Drina River, starting with Praca, Tara, Piva and mainly the Lim River,” added Perisic.

He expressed the expectation that more institutions in Serbia and Montenegro will be involved in solving this problem, from which, he claims, floating debris comes.
