About 200 users and workers of the Home for Children with Developmental Disabilities in Veternik were infected

The presence of coronavirus was registered in almost a quarter of the users and employees of the Home for Children and Young People with Developmental Disabilities in Veternik, according to H1.

According to some employees and parents who contacted us, about 150 users and another 50 employees of the Home were infected. They claim that the first confirmed cases of contagion between employees were recorded at the beginning of the week, but that, in addition to their departure from the workplace and their placement in mandatory isolation, there were no other changes in the way of working at the Home.

The epidemiological team of the Vojvodina Public Health Institute began testing all users and employees on Friday, but considering that the household capacity is 550 users and that 275 workers serve them, this process will take time, according to the H1 in the Provincial Secretariat of Social Affairs. politics, demographics and gender equality.

They add that for now, they do not have information on the exact number of infected people, because the tests have not been completed, as well as that the infected users are in one of the four pavilions of the house.

“In 95% of cases, those infected do not present any symptoms. However, for safety reasons, everyone will have to be tested,” says the Secretariat.

According to them, all immobile users of the veterinary home have been tested and all are negative.

By the way, in mid-November, the competent Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veterans Affairs and Social Affairs sent a recommendation to all social protection institutions in Serbia to reintroduce quarantine, that is, fourteen working days, due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation. Most, including Veternik’s house, took a different approach this time, namely 12-hour shifts.

In the ward, where the infected users are located in the “Veternik” Home, by order of the epidemiologist, a green, yellow and red zone was formed, and according to the employees, they spend 12 hours working in space suits there.

The latest daily section of the Provincial Secretariat for Social Policy shows that COVID-19 is present in 550 users and 239 employees in social protection institutions and homes for adults and the elderly in Vojvodina.
