“It is as if he were a hooligan”: this is how the award-winning and talented pianist from Nis, Vladimir Acimovic, describes his case, who is on trial before the Misdemeanor Court because he practiced the piano and, therefore, annoyed a neighbor. You have the necessary consent of others. He says that this is an unnoticed case in Serbia, which shows the attitude towards classical music and that it may be a precedent for musicians who have nowhere to practice.

The 18-year-old from Nis is studying in Belgrade and Graz, he is a fellow of the Fund for Young Talents of the Republic of Serbia, he has not lived in Nis for the last 2 years, but when he is there, he plays because he has to practice all the days, according to Južne dressed.

He has the consent of all but one of the neighbors, which is why police often came to his door after reporting a “noise”.

“Go to the basement, then scatter Vivaldi’s mice,” one of the policemen told him, Vladimir testified.

Since Vladimir did not go to the basement, but continued to practice, in the end he received a misdemeanor report because he makes noise on the piano.

In mid-February of this year, the police were in his apartment and wrote in the order to start a trial for minor offenses that Vladimir “disturbed public order and peace and endangered the peace and tranquility of citizens” .

– Vladimir playing the piano in his apartment and causing inconvenience to the tenants of the building (name known to the editorial office) – is written in the order.

They wrote what Vladimir claims: play only between 10 and 14 o’clock, as dictated by the house rules.

The first hearing was held in February and the second will be held soon. Vladimir had to hire a lawyer and a noise expert is waiting for them.

Vladimir is not concerned with the punishment, but with his attitude towards classical music and his fellow musicians, because the case could serve as a precedent against those who practice at home.

– This is the first case in judicial practice in which the police are initiating proceedings for playing the piano – affirms Vladimir.

He says he will pay the eventual punishment of the state scholarship, which he evaluates as “crazy”, but what worries him most is where the classical musicians will rehearse, if not at home, because there are no conditions for rehearsals in schools and colleges of music. Serbia

He sees the whole case as an attack on serious music and does not want art to be treated as noise and offense. “Noise” that, he says, is enjoyed by all but one of the neighbors.
