Amazed divers discovered treasure boxes on a sunken Nazi warship, which may contain 250 million pounds of long-lost gold.
Incredible images show the chests on the ship, which may contain gold from the famous Amber Room.
In April 1945, the German warship Karlsruhe sank to the bottom of the Baltic Sea.
It was bombarded by Soviet aircraft and sank, killing hundreds of soldiers and civilians.
In October, Polish divers claimed to have found the Karlsruhe wreckage almost intact.
The Baltictec organization team has been analyzing the wreck for months, now claiming they found gold in the Amber Room, reports San.
“After a thorough inspection of the seabed around Karlsruhe, we were able to confirm the presence of another shipwreck, only 550 meters from it,” they say from Baltiktec.
“Further investigation will show whether it is a ship related to the events of April 13, 1945.”
“As we expected, a lot of equipment spilled around the wreck, especially in front of its bow.”
“At the bottom we find ten boxes and many other things.”
“Some were open. The contents of one of them, special rubber stamps, give you hope that they are valuable items, maybe paintings?”
The amber room was decorated with mirrored amber plates and gold leaf.
The priceless treasure disappeared from the room after it was looted by Nazi forces more than 70 years ago. “The shipwreck is located several tens of kilometers north of Ustka at a depth of 88 meters.
“It is practically intact. We discovered military vehicles, porcelain and many boxes with unknown content in their warehouses, ”they say at Baltiktec.
“This discovery may provide groundbreaking information about the disappearance of the legendary room, as it was last seen in Königsberg.
“From there, the steamer Karlsruhe embarked on its last voyage with a heavy load.”
