A social worker could lose her job

The Minister of Labor, Employment, Veterans Affairs and Social Affairs, Darija Kisić Tepavčević, stated that Blace’s social workers violated the procedure, that their behavior is being examined and that the punishment could even be loss of employment.

Kisić Tepavčević repeated on Prva TV that all social protection issues are specific, that the decision is not made by one person but by a team, that the welfare of the children comes first and that the final decision is made by the court.

The minister declined to elaborate on the case in Blace when social workers tried to force the children out of the home and separate them from the immobile grandmother they live with after their mother’s death.

He said that the behavior of social workers will be analyzed and that the authorities will decide the fate of the children.

And when it comes to George Joksimovic of Kragujevac, whose children were abducted six years ago, Kisic Tepavcevic noted that “steps are being followed.”

“Poverty is never a reason to remove children from the family,” said the minister, adding that progress had been made in that case, but that the decisions were made by the court.
