The Rehts der Isar Clinic, based in Munich, in collaboration with the Technical University to which it belongs, has started a new experimental study that should reduce the mortality rate of patients’ coronary arteries by a third, reports Zidoje Zeitung.

The process to determine if a patient is in serious condition must be carried out with the help of telemedicine, explains Prof. Dr. Myth of Georg, who leads this study.

Telemedicine involves the medical supervision and diagnosis of patients remotely, through electronic communication devices, such as cell phones or computers, and the so-called biological signals are data that is collected through this to the patient’s medical condition .

According to the myth, telemedicine should be used to determine in a timely manner when coronary artery disease worsens to the point that urgently needed intensive care is required.

However, since there are many older people among those infected, this strategy has major drawbacks. The question is whether patients can adequately measure temperature and assess their condition. A certain number of patients simply wait too long before going to the hospital, reports Zidoje Zeitung.

A new study aims to highlight the tenderness of these deficiencies and, if possible, help patients see early on that they are in serious condition.

The device to be used in this study is shaped like a small epic that the patient will attach to the ear, which resembles a hearing aid. That being said, this hearing aid is actually a sensor that needs to measure the functions of vital organs every 15 minutes.

To determine the function of vital organs, the device measures body temperature, regular breathing, and heart rate, as well as oxygen levels in the blood. In addition, the device provides the doctor four times a day with information on the optimal condition of the patient.

This unique sensor first sends this information to a mini computer for installation in the patient’s home. They are then sent to the Rehts der Isar clinic, where a team of experts analyzes these data 24 hours a day.

The data is analyzed on the one hand by a computer algorithm, but also with the help of medical specialists, because the method is too new to rely solely on a computer program.

The final results send light signals like a traffic light: green means that everything is fine, but it means that the patient should already have a medical check-up, while red indicates that the patient must be rushed to the clinic.

How is the study done

The study will include 1,200 participants who should be over 60 years old, who have already tested positive for a crown, but not in intensive care or respiratory care, but isolated in the home.

For patients who meet the criteria, the courier service goes and free delivery at the door. These include: information brochures, various forms to complete and sign, as well as a package with a learning device and a sensor that should only be opened when the patient is sure they want to participate.

All you have to do is put the epic on your ear and turn on the computer that collects the data and the device does its job independently.

Professor Myth hopes that this study will reduce the death rate by up to a third compared to other patients who are not under constant supervision, and this study should also demonstrate the potential of telemedicine.

Patients in this study should be monitored for two weeks. If they have bypassed this period of time, it can be said that they have transmitted the corona virus. Professor Georg Myth is convinced that the study will show the effects: “This method saves human lives.”
