For the Popular Party, this is an unpleasant surprise and they are announcing the formation of their committee group.

According to unofficial information from Danas, the National Assembly and the SAA were unable to agree on the rules of procedure for the work of the group of committees in the capital.

Pedja Mitrovic, member of the Presidency of the SAA, announced yesterday that during this week 13 councilors from the Freedom and Justice Party, Movement for Change and Sloga will form a new group of councilors.

– After a little longer agreements with the Popular Party, we have not yet found a common language on the technical ways of functioning, so we decided to form our club to which the Popular Party will be invited at any time and welcome to agree on a job additional. The mission and vision of our leadership group remains the same. During the week, we will present a notification to the Belgrade Assembly about the formation of the board club – said Mitrović.

When asked about technical issues that they disagreed with the Popular Party, Mitrovic said they were technical issues about the decision-making process within the committee group, about how to speak in public.

– These are not essential differences in terms of what we want to achieve in Belgrade. We work well with the Popular Party and there is really no reason not to continue that cooperation. The negotiations dragged on and we felt responsible to the citizens who voted for us to unblock the work of our group, Mitrović explained.

The president of the Sloga union, Zeljko Veselinovic, explains Danas’ technical reasons.

– I know that the talks have been going on for some time, but as far as I know, the problem arose around the functioning of the committee group. Who will appear in public when, the powers of the head and deputy director of the committee group, etc. More technical stuff. My opinion is that this is a good decision because if something does not work and cannot be fixed, it is better for everyone to go their own way. I was in favor of that immediately after the disintegration of the Alliance for Serbia. Most thought it necessary to negotiate. It did not work and that’s it – says Veselinović.

On the other hand, Marina Lipovac Tanaskovic, member of the National Assembly in the City Assembly, says for our newspaper that this evolution of the situation is an unpleasant surprise for the Popular Party.

– We have been informed that SAA councilors will form their councilors group in Belgrade today only last night (Sunday night) around midnight. The People’s Party does not have its own committee group, the only one we have ever belonged to was the SZS joint committee group, which obviously no longer exists after this decision. Within the United Opposition of Serbia, talks were held on the transformation of this committee group into a committee group with the same name – UOPS. The Popular Party insisted on harmonizing the principles that would guarantee the prevention of abuses, kidnapping of councilors, undermining of partner organizations and other problems that unfortunately manifested themselves in the SZS. For Narodna, these were not technical matters but serious political matters to better contribute to the establishment of relationships. Now it is clear to us that these principles were neither a priority nor acceptable to the AEA – says Lipovac Tanaskovic.

As he adds, after this, the National Assembly is forced to form its own committee group in the City Assembly and, as he says, it will do so soon.

– We emphasize that despite this gesture, we remain open to cooperation with the newly formed association, if that cooperation involves joint efforts by those who kept their word to the citizens and boycotted the fraudulent elections of June 21 – concludes our interlocutor.

The disagreement appears to be a kind of mistrust between Dragan Djilas’s SAA and Vuk Jeremic’s National Assembly, dating back to this summer, when National Assembly member Nikola Jovanovic left that party satisfied with his decision to leave the board of directors. of the SZS in the Belgrade Assembly.

The media wrote that Jovanović would join the SAA, but that hasn’t happened until today, at least officially.

Shortly after his resignation, the Alliance for Serbia as an opposition party organization ceased to exist and a more flexible alliance was formed under the name United Opposition of Serbia.

It appears that discussions within UOPS about the way the committee group in Belgrade would work even then.

As several of the participants in those talks told us, the National Assembly requested the adoption of regulations for the work of the board of directors, which until then did not exist.

Our interlocutors affirm that both the National Assembly and the SAA have presented their proposals for regulations, but no agreement has been reached on a single text.

The compromise proposal was then left to Janko Veselinović, president of the Movement for Change, but the National Assembly also did not accept his proposal.

After that, Djordje Vukadinovic, the editor of the NSPM, drew up the regulation, but it was not accepted either.

Vuletic: Column formation is important for the Belgrade elections

“The regrouping of the opposition in the ranks of the members of the Belgrade Assembly is a preparation for the Belgrade elections and I think it is very good that the opposition exerts pressure through two or three columns, this is the only way to change this ridiculous government, “said Zoran Vuletic, president of the Civic Democratic Forum, to Danas. , after the end of the session of the Belgrade Assembly.

GDF has five councilors in the Belgrade Assembly, elected from Dragan Djilas’s list in 2018. Meanwhile, it has become part of a new bloc, which includes Together for Serbia Nebojsa Zelenovic and Let’s not drown Belgrade, which Vuletic mentions as one of the important changes on the opposition side. preparations for the Belgrade elections.

On the eve of the start of the Belgrade Assembly session, which was held at the Sava Center due to epidemiological measures, Dveri activists yesterday developed a banner “Vesić, go away” and spoke about the false promises of the city leaders . As the opposition tried to address the media, Sima Spasic, president of the Kosovo and Metohija Association of Exiles and Disappeared, constantly directed obstructions, and presented a banner aimed at independent media, including Danas. During the session itself, Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić as well as SNS councilor Nebojsa Bakarec commented on Dragan Đilas, although he did not attend the session, considering that his group of councilors continues to boycott the work of the Assembly.
