His story is like a movie. It all started on January 23, 2012, when his daughter Karen Alejandra Salinas Rodríguez (20) was kidnapped in Tamaulipas, in the northeast of the country. A group of armed bandits from Los Zetas got into her car and drove off with her. Although they demanded thousands of dollars in ransom, they killed her and her remains were found on an abandoned ranch in 2014.

Miriam decided to take matters into her own hands. He searched the entire country for his daughter’s killers, even across the border in Texas.

Using false identities, weapons and false documents, Miriam managed to find several members of the cartel. Among his goals was a florist when he pursued for years. He sold flowers on the street before joining the cartel, and after learning information about his location, Miriam found him near the US-Mexico border, where he sold sunglasses.

When he saw her, he started to run, but his mother, then 56 years old, came and threatened him with a gun: “If you move I’ll kill you.” He held him for almost an hour, until the police appeared.

According to the Daily Mail, Miriam has brought at least 10 criminals to justice. On one occasion, she even met with a cartel member who told her that they didn’t know where her daughter was, but that he would help her find her for $ 2,000. As they talked, he heard someone call him “Sama” on the radio.

She revealed on Facebook that Sama is in the photo of a woman who worked in an ice cream parlor. He spent weeks waiting for Sama to show up at the store. Miriam dyed her hair red and wore a uniform from her old job, so no one would recognize her. Eventually a police officer joined her in the search, however, while an arrest warrant was being issued, Sama left town.

It wasn’t until September 2014 that Luis, Miriana’s son, saw Sam looking at the hats in his store.

Police soon arrested Sam, who then revealed everything he knew, the names and locations of the people involved in Karen’s murder.

However, due to everything she discovered, Miriam herself became a target. She was killed in front of her house in 2017, with 12 bullets.

Her husband found her lying on the street, her hand on the gun she was holding in her purse.

Miriam is considered a hero in her city, reports the Daily Mail.

The police officer who helped her said of her investigation: “I never saw that. The details and information she had, and she collected it all herself, are incredible.”
