On the initiative of the president of the Social Democratic Party, Boris Tadic, a meeting of opposition representatives was held. Tadic says that one of the conclusions is to establish a system so that rivals do not attack each other when there is an opponent against them who is more than dangerous. Opposition representatives also debated whether to run in one or more columns in the upcoming elections.
The history of the unification of the opposition is as old as the government of the progressives. Could Boris Tadic be successful where others cannot? The former president of Serbia asked the opposition to discuss the elaboration of a strategy for the next elections. One of Tadic’s proposals is that the opposition appear in several columns.
“The point is to make a model in which there are no mutual attacks, in which our claims with the voters are so marked that we are not in conflict but that we cooperate with each other and collect those votes so that we finally have one more vote, at least one vote. more than Vucic’s coalition system, “Tadic said.
The united opposition, namely the former Alliance for Serbia, was represented by Janko Veslinović and former MP Djordje Vukadinović, who says that regardless of the differences, which everyone knows, it is important to unite in the fight for electoral conditions.
“We have to be united in that without any flirtation or compromise and winking at the government. And how everything will technically work out will depend on many things … on public opinion polls, on the current political situation, on the possibilities that some of them pass the census, how “In the end, they will agree on whether there will be a column at the end, which I represent, and I think my colleagues from the united opposition,” said Vukadinovic.
At the Don’t Drown Belgrade Initiative, they say they always respond to invitations to speak and add that they have said before that more columns is a better solution.
“We have to offer more columns, we have to offer people a choice, we have to get as many people as possible to vote, because this is a very important moment if we plan to live in cities where people live with dignity,” Radomir said Lazovic.
The Dveri movement did not respond to the invitation, they believe that the form of the meeting was not appropriate, and the one who sent the invitation, Boris Tadić, is not acceptable to them either.
“It’s just that someone who was the main figure of the old regime is not suitable for a moderator and leader of the opposition,” believes Dveri leader Boško Obradović.
Tadic rejects objections that he wants to lead the opposition.
“I am neither a coordinator, nor only a moderator, nor a leader of the opposition, nor is that my claim, I just invited all these people to say their word in a technical sense,” says Tadic.
Also attending the meeting were representatives of the New Party, the president of the Democratic Party of Serbia, the Free Citizens Movement, Enough Now, and members of the Heart of the City group.
The “One in Five Million” movement said its representatives could not attend the opposition meeting because they were not, as they were told, “on the list.”
The next meeting is scheduled for next week.
