A group of Serbian intellectuals in an open letter to Vladimir Putin asks to remove the Order of Alexander Nevsky from Aleksandar Vučić

[ad_1]

Dear Mr. President,

The reason we address you is deep gratitude for your friendly attitude towards Serbia and your essential understanding of the importance of cooperation between Serbia and Russia. Since the time of Tsar Nicholas II, Serbia has not had as much affection for Russia as it does now.

The Russian Federation is doing everything possible to strengthen relations with Serbia in all fields and to help it preserve state and national interests.

The key cooperation between Serbia and Russia in the field of economy and energy was achieved in the period from 2001 to 2011 through the privatization process, when Russia became a partner of Serbian companies. Based on the 2008 energy agreement signed between Serbia and Russia, our two countries confirmed their determination to cooperate strategically. Through the privatization of Beopetrol and the Serbian oil industry, the Russian Federation has achieved influence in the energy field, not only in Serbia but also in the Balkan region in general.

For one of the most important projects in the field of humanitarian cooperation between our two countries, we consider the cooperation agreement to respond to emergency situations, which was signed in 2009 and on the basis of the opening of the Serbian-Russian humanitarian center in Nis. This humanitarian center played an important role in saving human lives during the floods that hit Serbia in 2014. The Serbian-Russian Humanitarian Center has the potential to become the most important humanitarian center in the Balkans, that is, to expand its activities throughout the region.

Russia has generously helped complete the construction of the Church of St. Sava in Vracar and thus opened a new chapter in the spiritual unity of the Russian and Serbian Orthodox people.

The completion of the construction of the St. Sava temple is of great importance to Serbia, which more than ever needs to remember its historical heritage and rest on the foundations of its statehood and national dignity.

In many historical moments, Russia was the only support for the Serbian state and the only hope for our people. This is also the case today, when the Serbian people are faced with the results of the long-term violent separation of Kosovo and Metohija from the rest of Serbia. We are very grateful to the Russian Federation for the position of principle that the question of Kosovo can be resolved exclusively in accordance with international law, that is, Resolution 1244 and the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia. Therefore, Russia, by protecting international law and world order, also protects the territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia.

We must express with regret that Serbia is not making efforts to preserve its territorial integrity, that is, Kosovo and Metohija in its composition.

During the eight years in power, the ruling regime has never raised the issue of the return of more than 200,000 expelled Serbs to the international community, as well as the return of Serbian security forces to Kosovo and Metohija, as provided in Resolution 1244.

As confirmation of this assertion, we will say that the Serbian state leadership signed the damaging Brussels Agreement in 2013, which closed the Serbian state institutions on the territory of Kosovo and Metohija and established the classic border between Kosovo and Metohija and the rest of Serbia That in the eight years of power, the ruling regime has never raised with the international community the issue of the return of more than 200,000 expelled Serbs and the return of the Serbian security forces to Kosovo and Metohija, as provided in the Resolution 1244. reacts on the occasion of the formation of the Kosovo Army, which is contrary to international law and the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia.

Finally, that the Serbian state leadership did not send an invitation to the Russian Federation to join the negotiations on Kosovo and Metohija and with its authority help to solve this problem in accordance with the interests of our state and not according to the interests of the Albanian separatists.

Instead, The president of Serbia has included the United States in the process of solving the Kosovo problem, which is the main creator and sponsor of an independent Kosovo.

Signing the call In the economic cooperation agreement between Serbia and Kosovo, President Aleksandar Vučić agreed that Serbia should abandon the campaign to withdraw recognition of the false status of Kosovo, after many countries have already done so.

In addition, President Vučić completely renounced the sovereignty of Serbia and allowed direct US interference in many internal affairs of our country, including energy cooperation between Serbia and Russia.

We believe that the Serbian state leadership is abusing centuries-old Serbian-Russian relations and using them for daily political marketing purposes, while developing strategic cooperation with Euro-Atlantic structures.

That is why we ask you to deprive the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, of the Order of Alexander Nevski that you awarded him last year, because we believe that he does not deserve to wear such a high decoration.

In support of this, we will refer to the fact that the Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Center in Nis did not receive diplomatic status, despite the promise of the Serbian leadership to get it, that Russian companies in the last eight years could not win any tenders. in Serbia and that the Serbian leadership apart from empty promises, did not take a single concrete step in further strategic deepening of Serbian-Russian cooperation.

That is why we ask you to deprive Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić of the Order of Alexander Nevski, which you awarded him last year, because we believe that he does not deserve to wear such a high decoration.

Alexander Nevski fought for the independence of his country against foreign invaders and stood out for his heroism, while the president of Serbia stands out with completely opposite characteristics.

In the Mongolian Golden Horde, Aleksandar Nevski bravely confessed Christ, as his true soldier, and Aleksandar Vučić destroyed the Christian values of life in Serbia, as well as the family itself, cowardly serving Western globalism and renouncing Christ.
