With the passage of the “Turkish stream” through Serbia, our country will enjoy numerous benefits, firstly, we obtained energy stability, but also the opportunity to obtain gas much cheaper, and when exports start through our country, we will collect tax revenue, says for Sputnik Energy Milos. Zdravkovic on the occasion of the release of test gas through pipelines laid in Serbia.

The gas passed through a part of the “Turkish stream” through Serbia, thus ending one of the most important projects that reinforces Serbia’s economic and geostrategic position in the region.
The pipes were laid along the entire main gas pipeline over a length of 403 kilometers, from Zajecar on the border with Bulgaria to Horgos on the border with Hungary.
Will the United States impose sanctions on Russian gas?
Milos Zdravkovic tells Sputnik that there are numerous benefits from this gas pipeline, but that the greatest energy stability is Serbia.
“It is a two-way pipeline that can transport gas from Bulgaria to Hungary and vice versa. It is important for energy security, not only of our country, but also for the interconnection of the entire Western Balkan region with gas installations. “Through both Bulgaria and through Serbia, automation is being tested now, compressor stations that have been made, in fact, the control of the pipeline safety is in progress,” explains Zdravkovic.
However, he points out that the entire “Turkish Stream” gas pipeline on the territory of Serbia has not yet been built, but adds that, judging from the pace of works so far, we should not worry about that.
“There is still another compressor station to be built on the territory of Serbia, it will undoubtedly be completed in June, and two of these stations are to be completed on the territory of Bulgaria. However, the gas pressure in the pipes laid on the route of the Turkish stream “” It is large enough so that gas can pass from Bulgaria to Serbia and that it can already be used in Pancevo for the needs of a gas power plant, that is, to produce electricity and thermal energy, “he reveals. Zdravkovic.
He adds that there is still extensive gasification work in our country, at full capacity, both Serbia and Bulgaria will be able to use gas, but also earn more than “Turkish Stream”, just when the mentioned compressor stations are finished. Then “Gazprom” will be able to export gas to the territory of the Republika Srpska, that is, to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary, along this route.
Zdravkovic says that five more gas power plants are planned to be built in Serbia in the near future. He explains that these are actually power plants, heating plants, which will be built alongside the largest industrial centers in Serbia.

“4 percent of the total electricity produced in Serbia will be produced in Pancevo, and the refinery and all its plants will be supplied with heat. With the total capacity of” Turkish Stream “, it will be possible to do so near Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis and Kragujevac. When electricity is produced, the by-product is the thermal energy that is used together with large industrial centers, that is to say, commercial and residential “, explains this energy expert.
Zdravkovic says that in addition to energy stability, Serbia will enjoy several other important benefits from passing this main gas pipeline through its territory.
Surely we will have a minimum of $ 40 cheaper gas per thousand cubic meters, due to the transportation taxes that our country will charge, because the main gas pipeline crosses our territory. The Bulgarians negotiated with “Gazprom” a lower gas price by 27 percent compared to The route by which they imported gas from Ukraine, as ours negotiated, I do not know it for now, but I suppose it is a similar agreement, it is a benefit, and the other is that some people will work there, they will provide service to the gas pipeline and the facilities that accompany it. “

Zdravkovic notes that he is convinced that all the work on the “Turkish Current” through Serbia will be completed on time, because those who designed this great project thought through all the details, both technical and political. He points out that the most difficult part of the job was completed, and it was the laying of pipes at the bottom of the Black Sea.
That is why the Russians decided to finish the “Turkish Stream” first, although it has a much smaller capacity compared to the “North Stream 2” which was late, because Russia foresaw the US opposition and sanctions. The Black Sea is much deeper than the Baltic, the pipes are laid at a depth of 2000 meters, and in the Baltic at a depth of a few hundred meters. “
At the end of the conversation for Sputnik, Zdravković says that in the future, it would be nice to call this important gas pipeline by its real name, “Turkish Stream”.
The term “Balkan” was coined by the Bulgarians due to their geostrategic problems with Turkey. him from that country. “
