The Slovak government has decided to include the army in a three-week program to screen all citizens over the age of 10 for the corona virus. A three-day pilot program was launched last week in four northern regions of the country, and more massive trials will take place this weekend and next with the goal of isolating four million adults and isolating those infected.
According to the “Guardian”, the military will assist medical personnel working in thousands of test sites. Results will be ready within half an hour after sampling.
People who test positive will have the option of self-quarantining at home for 10 days or moving to a facility provided by the government. Those who do not want to take the antibody test will have to isolate themselves for 10 days or face a fine of 1,650 euros. All examinees will receive a confirmation and the police will conduct checks at the site to find anyone who wants to avoid the procedure.
The number of infected people in Slovakia has risen dramatically since late summer, after the country went through the first wave of relatively undamaged diseases in the spring. There were 2,785 new cases of the infection on Wednesday, compared to 231 a month ago.
Slovak ministers said hospitals could be on the brink of collapse in a few weeks.
Prime Minister Igor Matovic outlined how to put his EU counterparts to the test during a videoconferencing summit on Thursday night.
It should be remembered that 3,363 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Slovakia today, while another 12 people died, announced the Slovak health center. 16,556 people were tested, a total of 751,744, reports TASR.
