The boy (3) fell into the well on Studentska Street 7 in New Belgrade this afternoon! According to unofficial information, he was walking on the sidewalk with his mother when he fell through an opening where the cover had been missing for some time.
With the quick intervention of the ambulance doctor, they pulled the boy out of the well and immediately took him to the department of the children’s clinic in Tirsova. Unofficially, the boy was injured and suffered head injuries, but his life was not in danger, Novosti learned.
The hole is still open, but an old piece of furniture has been inserted. According to the citizens we meet in this part of the capital, this problem takes a long time. – The mine disappeared a long time ago, and none of the authorities came to replace it – BC, a resident of Studentska Street, complains. – I was almost seriously injured the other day. It is especially unsafe because it is located in the middle of the sidewalk, where a large number of people circulate, especially mothers with young children. Should an accident like this have happened so that something could be done about it?
The roofs found on the sidewalks in the vast majority of cases do not belong to the “Vodovod” of Belgrade, but there are electrical or telecommunications facilities, which must be determined later, confirmed for “Novosti” of this public company.
“We did not have a report that the cover should be replaced at the place where the child was injured,” says Vladimir Šobot of JKP “Vodovod i kanalizacija”.
“Our culverts are located in the middle of the road or next to its curbs. They used to disappear often, but in recent years they have not. We managed to apply some protection mechanisms, so now it is much more difficult to physically remove them. Various padlocks, springs and chains are installed inside the mouth, so it takes much more time and mechanization to remove them. The alloy the caps are made from has also been changed, so thieves are no longer so interesting. Our interlocutor points out that in recent years it has not happened that people are injured on their axles, there has already been mostly damage to cars, ”says Vladimir Šobor.
