Serbia will be among the first countries to receive the kovid-19 vaccine, talks are underway with all manufacturers and there is a possibility of providing an additional two million doses of vaccines, says Prime Minister Ana Brnabić.
She said that she is balancing the acquisition of new doses, because, as she says, they are huge costs and the question is whether everyone will need them, but also noted that citizens can be sure that everything possible is being done to get the best and most safe vaccine.
“The end is when the vaccine arrives, and Serbia is one of the best positioned. We are talking with all the vaccine manufacturers and with the American Pfizer and the German Bayontek, with whom we have already signed a contract,” Brnabic said.
It also says that there were two options that countries could choose through the global vaccine coalition, Option A which was somewhat cheaper, where countries had to accept whatever vaccine the covax facility system ships at that time, and option . B, which is more expensive and where countries can choose from the spectrum of vaccines.
Serbia paid the advance and opted for option B, says Brnabić on TV Pink.
The prime minister also noted that Serbia has direct negotiations with the Chinese vaccine maker Sinofarm, as well as with Romanian partners that produce the Sputnik V vaccine.
“We are doing everything in our power to get him to arrive as soon as possible and to be free,” Brnabic said and called on political dissidents to take his statements about vaccines seriously, because, he adds, this is not a political fight.
President Vučić previously said that Serbia provided 1.8 million doses of kovid-19 vaccines.
