The judge of the Court of Appeals, Miodrag Majić, declared that he will not be a candidate for the presidency of Serbia in the next elections, despite his name being increasingly mentioned in the public as a “good proposal” for the president of the state .
In an interview with Beti, which will be published by the agency tomorrow, Majic said he was convinced that the reason for mentioning it was that citizens were “hungry” for justice for too long.
“That is why they are inclined to see a desirable president in a judge, who speaks openly about the problems of the judiciary.” I see myself as a judge. “Even in the circumstances here, I consider it one of the most honorable occupations, and I would not abandon it so easily if I am not pushed away,” Majić said.
He says he’s not sure he’s a good populist and that the masses will like him.
He asserted that politics unfortunately requires a dose of unscrupulousness to tell falsehoods and accept compromises, for which he is not prepared.
“I do not feel good lying and doing calculations. I prefer to be attacked and abandoned until I am ashamed of myself and while I tell the truth. And that is not a good recipe for the local president,” said the judge.
When asked by Beta if he had spoken with representatives of the opposition on this matter, Judge Majić replied briefly: “I didn’t.
