Belgrade Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić said that any action taken according to the epidemiological situation should be in the interest of public health, but also the economy, because we must not allow the economy to stop again. As he pointed out, the moment of glory is approaching, but a large part of the public understands that the celebration is risky. He also said that this year, the traditional demonstration for children “Christmas Village” will not be organized in front of the Temple of San Sava.

– There will be no houses in the city center either, but we will make sure there is a New Year’s Eve broadcast on some televisions. We will organize an interesting program in various places where, among other things, young musicians will sing songs about Belgrade, but without an audience. We will also have fireworks at midnight, but there will be no mass gatherings, Vesić announced as a guest on TV Kurir’s “Usijanje” program.

He added that respect for the measures can work well, and that is shown by the small number of infected people in schools and kindergartens.

– The essence is to protect our health system. It turned out that we also managed to withstand this wave. We started the Belgrade stadium with 510 beds and 215 oxygen seats, which was not possible in the first or second wave. By December 1, the line of hospitals in Batajnica with 1,000 beds will be completed. In Belgrade alone, we will have 1,510 new seats, regardless of existing capacities. And with that, we will allow other patients to work with other patients as well, Vesić noted.
