BELGRADE – Customs officers, in cooperation with the police at the Batrovci border crossing, on Tuesday prevented the driver of a bus with the license plate Bujanovac heading to Switzerland, in an attempt to smuggle 11,000 cigarettes, which he put in the spare wheel .
The cigarettes had special stamps called Kosovo, the Customs Administration announced. The infringement was discovered by examination in a scanner, when it was determined that the spare wheel was filled with some other content rather than air. After disassembly, 11,000 cigarettes were removed from inside.
An offense proceeding has been initiated against the 49-year-old driver from Veliki Trnovac before the competent court, at which point the smuggled cigarettes will be kept.
