The communion was brought to his hospital bed by Archpriest Branko Vujacic, parish priest of Podgorica, and the monk of Amfilohije, Justin Mrenovic, brother of the Cetinje monastery, was sitting next to the bed. At 8:22, Amfilohije passed away.

Soon after, doctors and all hospital staff from all the wards began to spontaneously gather in the central hall, wanting to pay tribute to the main guardian of Orthodoxy in Montenegro and one of the most prominent bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, who never left no one indifferent. The sad news rang out like a bomb.
Then the priests of the Serbian Orthodox Church came to the hospital to prepare the body of the metropolitan for transport to the Cetinje monastery, and in front of the Clinical Center, the faithful began to spontaneously gather and light candles. They all cried. And doctors, and priests, and citizens … There is no sad day in Montenegro like this one, when their dear grandfather left them, a man because for months, more than half the country participated in magnificent liturgies.
Some citizens also entered the hospital room to pay homage to the body of the Metropolitan, who, as could be heard, with his uniform, with a crown on his head and serenity on his face, looked fully prepared for the kingdom of heaven.
The bells of all the Orthodox churches in Montenegro began to ring at 10 in the morning and will ring until the funeral at 10, 12 and 16 hours. A sad scene followed when the priests carried the coffin with the metropolitan’s body from the hospital, passing by the crying medical workers, who were at the time being baptized.
The body of the Metropolitan was received in Cetinje by a river of people who gathered in front of the Cetinje Monastery, where tomorrow the Holy Liturgy of the Holy Liturgy will be served, on the feast of Saint Peter of Cetinje. On the same day, at 1 pm, there will be a solemn farewell to the bishop in Podgorica, where they will be received with prayer at 2 pm at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Podgorica.
I had big plans
On September 20 this year, Metropolitan Amfilohije said that he certainly would not die before returning the Church of St. Peter of Cetinje to the top of Lovćen.
– Don’t think I’m old for that. No, God will bring her back to where she was during my life – said Metropolitan Amfilohije.
It should be remembered that the metropolitan was admitted to the hospital on October 6 of this year for pneumonia caused by a coronavirus infection. The pneumonia was cured and the viral infection stopped, which was confirmed by a negative test on the crown, and also recorded in the official medical report. The recovery went well and then the metropolitan’s state of health worsened on Thursday, when it was noted that he had difficulty breathing, with chest pain.
The cause was the appearance of air in the mid-thorax or pneumomediastinum, which usually occurs in situations where the patient has sensitive lungs due to the duration of the inflammatory process and is on oxygen therapy for a long period. This complication eventually resulted in a fatal outcome.
