Belgrade Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić, according to the epidemiological situation, the installation of the New Year’s lighting will start only in mid-November.
– In mid-November, the city center lighting will be partially turned on, while from November 15, until mid-December, it will be turned on in various places – explains Vesić.
He adds that the reason for the subsequent inclusion of lighting and the reduced number of tourists is in line with the epidemiological situation. Still, it is certain that you will not miss the New Years program.
– The New Year is the New Year and we should celebrate it in a festive mood. We have decided to organize concerts, however, what will be the organization of these concerts depends on the epidemiological situation.
We will definitely organize a program that will be online on two televisions, and whether citizens will be able to attend that program depends on what the situation is with the virus at the time – adds Vesić.
Some parts of the New Years program that have been established in the capital in previous years will not yet take place.
– There will be no events involving large numbers of people, such as the Christmas Village, which, according to the Serbian Orthodox Church, was held near the Church of St. Sava, as well as the part that is held every year in the Republic Square.
There will be skating rinks, but it will be smaller, there are people alone, so we will ride it. There will also be no children’s shows during which children sit in tents, because there are no possibilities for that – concludes Vesić.
