There has been an exponential increase in the number of infected people in Belgrade and the accelerated filling of hospitals has begun, said epidemiologist Predrag Kon. He commented on the decision not to toughen anti-epidemic measures, although the situation is getting worse.
“I can’t get out of the whole system, I can convey some of my thoughts, useful or not, I’m not really sure. There is a lot of resistance to any measure and restriction, movement restrictions, I can even understand that,” but I can’t understand the Barrier virus resistance, I just don’t understand that, “he told Tanjug.
“Does anyone think that the solution is to expose everyone to the virus? I think they are deeply wrong. That carries a great risk of tragic results and is not necessary,” Conn said Wednesday.
“I am not in favor of imposing a state of emergency, masks should also be used outdoors”
Kon said today that he does not believe that a state of emergency should be imposed due to the increase in the number of crowns infected with the virus, but that he is “above all” to respect the prescribed measures, especially for the use of masks, and that he advocates wearing them outdoor. especially in pedestrian areas.
Kon told Prva TV that the epidemic in Belgrade “took such momentum that it cannot be easily stopped” but that the infection did not spread where the implementation of the measures was respected. He said that we had not managed to completely suppress the epidemic, since its appearance in March, and that we had “latents”, which worsened due to failure to comply with the measures.
“Every day an increasing number of infected people, especially in Belgrade, have to worry about it,” Kon said.
He added that every day more patients are admitted to hospitals, and that so far there has not been a “flattening of the curve”, that is, the number of new patients will be at the same level as the previous day.
Kon, who is also a member of the Republican Headquarters for the Suppression of the Corona Virus Epidemic, said that it was not noticed that the coronavirus infection spread in theaters and cinemas, but that the potential foci of the infection were pop events and meetings where the measures are not respected.
“Where we behave well, there is no contagion, where the measures are not respected, there is contagion. Whoever does some events with 200 people, and does it every weekend until the wee hours of the morning, is breaking the law and they would say, out loud. ” Con said.
He added that the organizers of this type of event should know that if someone is infected and ends badly, “it is a crime and not a small one.”
According to him, so far, those who do not respect the measures against the epidemic could not be punished because “the legal framework did not allow that control to be followed with sanctions.”
“It is not a medical issue. So far, everything possible has been done within the legal framework that exists now,” Kon said, adding that “it is first and foremost to implement the measures taken so far.”
