“I don’t feel like a hero, anyone who was there would do this, if it could help. There is no heroism here, the only thing that mattered was that the girl was saved,” Pavle Gavura, a Dorcol hero, told Nova.rs. who yesterday, together with his colleagues, saved a girl from the terrace of a burning apartment.
A teenage girl who was seriously injured after a fire broke out in her apartment on Visokog Stevana street in Dorcol in Belgrade was rescued by workers from a nearby construction site.
One day later, in an interview for the portal Nova.rs, Pavle Gavura, the “leader” of the hero, explains how he looked all day before.
“We were at work like every day, a colleague came running and said the apartment was on fire, the girl was screaming. We immediately ran, we got to the building and tried to tear down her apartment, but there was a security door, so we went up the stairs. A man opened the key for us, we went up to the terrace, I invited the girl to come to the nearest side, where there was a small fire, she listened to me, luckily she was sober, she jumped the fence, she got squatted down and somehow sat down. to relax, to hug me, that we were going to present her to the terrace and that was literally how it was, “explains Gavura, who assures that the girl said” save me, I’m burning, save me worse, I’m going to skip “.
By this time, part of the roof was already beginning to collapse, but as Pavle Gavura says, he didn’t think about it.
“I knew that there were companions who would hold me and tie me down, and if we fell they would catch us, it was only important that she be saved,” says Dorcol’s hero, who says he has no problems with height and loves it.
Citizen comments say the boys really acted in sync, and Pavle claims it’s because they know how to breathe and that they did everything instinctively. A day later, Pavle doesn’t hide that he is delighted to have saved the girl and that she is alive.
“I spoke with the girl’s father, who thanked him and thanked him for that. We are waiting for him to call her when he is well and everything is as it should be. We will listen to each other when everything calms down,” says Pavle. He also says that none of the authorities called him.
“We are only appealing to whoever has a construction company or something, to pay, to make an invoice for her and her mother, and whoever helps her, it would be nice if her apartment was tidy, that when she leaves the hospital there is a place to stay ”. come back, ”says Gavura.
She also claims that she does not deal with media attention at all, but repeats that she would like her apartment to be fixed and that she was kept alive and well.
“Maybe she is, maybe not modest, but the most important thing is that she is alive and well,” concludes the hero Pavle.
