Lazar I. (23) from Kraljevo, who is wanted by the police on suspicion of trying to kill Aleksandar Šarc (35) on Saturday in the garage of the “Ušće” shopping center in Belgrade, was identified on the basis of images from the security cameras.

His specific gait also helped determine the identity of the shooter, and it is still being determined if there are biological traces on the weapon, which he dropped during the escape, and which police found in the green zone next to the shopping center.

The motive behind the crime and what connects the suspect is not yet known, when Kraljevo police describe him as a “petty criminal” who stole sneakers from the yard and Šarc, allegedly a member of the “Pink Panther” gang, who a he was once suspected of robbing a jewelry store in Milan. jewels worth more than one million euros were taken.

Did Lazar I. go to Šarc on his own initiative, due to some outstanding personal accounts, or, much more likely, did he try to kill a Belgrade citizen on someone’s order? The second variant, which the investigators believe more in, raises the question of who hired the young man from Kraljevo to kill Šarc, but due to a combination of circumstances, he did not follow through with the plan to the end.

You can only guess if you will bear the consequences due to that mistake at this point.

There is no doubt that Lazar I. had logistical support and good information on the movements of Sharc, who must have been shot in the head outside the vehicle, because he was wearing a bulletproof vest and was driving an armored “Mercedes” for fear of his safety.

To determine all the circumstances of this crime, the police are verifying with whom Lazar I. was in contact and with whom he cooperated in the capital to which he moved from his native Kraljevo.

It is also being investigated whether there may be biological traces of Lazar I in some other crimes.

Who is the suspect in the crime?

The suspect in Šarc’s assassination attempt was previously arrested for robbery, carjacking, breaking and entering traffickers, inflicting minor bodily injury and illegal weapons. At one point, he stabbed a man in the thigh with a knife after an argument over who would go to the bathroom first, and was also arrested for stealing sneakers from the yard!
