BELGRADE – The crisis personnel of the Government of Serbia for the fight against the corona virus addressed the public today at 3 pm with the latest information.

Even today, there was a dramatic increase in the number of newly infected people in Serbia: up to 579 and three patients died.

Crisis staff member Dr. Darija Kisić Tepavčević was the first to address the public, announcing the latest corona figures and the distribution of those infected by cities and age groups. Dr. Daria said that most of the patients are under the age of 60. In terms of cities, Belgrade ranks first and Kragujevac ranks second with 40 infected people.

Dr Daria said that risky behavior is represented by unprotected contacts, and those infected are primarily among the healthy and young people who most often make unprotected contacts.

KBC Bežanijska kosa director, Dr. Marija Zdravković, also addressed the public and said that 151 patients were being treated by kovid at her hospital, and that one patient who had been on a ventilator for more than 40 days and had recovered from kovid was released today from the hospital.

Kisić: There are currently 530 patients in the hospital

Currently, 530 patients are being hospitalized, while 24 patients are on a ventilator due to complications, 19 says epidemiologist Darija Kisić Tepavčević.

Since the start of the epidemic, a total of 1,271,455 people have been tested, while 786 people have died.

Most of those newly infected in the last 24 hours: 286 are from Belgrade, representing more than 49 percent of the total number of infected. After Belgrade, the most positive people are in Kragujevac – 40, Novi Sad – 18, Ssapac – 17, Prijepolje – 16, Trstenik – 15, Valjevo – 14, Nis – 13, Bor – 11. In other cities, there were less than 10 infected.

In the last week of October 17-23, 2,396 laboratories were confirmed, of which 1,185 from the Belgrade area, then Kragujevac – 126, Valjevo – 97, Novi Sad – 76, Nis – 54, Kraljevo – 51, Vranje – 44 , Prijepolje-39, Trstenik-37, Ssabac-33, Aleksandrovac -32, Loznica – 29, Krusevac -26, Bor – 24, Prokuplje – 23.

“We have potential carriers of the infection throughout our country. The number of hospitalizations is approximately 15 percent of all infected, and moderate and severe clinical conditions are treated in the hospital,” said Kisić Tepavčević.

In the previous week, 85% of all confirmed cases of the corona virus were in the age group up to 65 years.
