It thundered and rumbled that the earth shook. All the best that the Serbian army has on earth and in heaven is displayed in Peshter, near Kosovo, in all its might. Reporters from “Vesti” attended one of the most important, but also most demanding, military exercises of the Serbian Armed Forces, which differed from many others by the use of live ammunition.
Thus, for the first time in 30 years, the representatives of numerous military delegations, as well as almost the entire state leadership of Serbia and the Republika Srpska, were able to see all the deadly power of Moments 29, as well as the S1 armored missile systems. recently acquired, the Mi-35 tank killer helicopters and modernized M-84 tanks, but also the pride of specially designed Serbian industry like the Pasars or Milos 3.
With the professional help of up to three former Chiefs of Staff, Generals Miloje Miletic, Ljubisa Dikovic and Branko Krga, “Vesti” conveys part of the atmosphere of this military exercise, which was attended by some 2,800 members of the army and the Ministry of Defense. from Serbia, more than 150 combat and non-combat vehicles and system and about 40 aircraft. Among them was a large number of modernized funds from the development of the defense industry of Serbia, which acted together for the first time.
It will not work
The combined action of aviation and ground forces, complemented by a landing from the sky by the 63rd Parachute Brigade and a ground assault by the 72nd Special Operations Brigade, was especially attractive to the national public. The crown of the exercise was the impact of up to 13 helicopters in a relatively small area. As one, Mi-17, Mi-8, Mi-35 and X-145M appeared and performed on the battlefield.
In a total of seven sequences, the Sadejstvo 2020 exercise was carried out under the assumption that the enemy armed forces carried out an armed aggression with coordinated activities and temporarily occupied part of the territory of Serbia with two combat groups awaiting the arrival of their new forces.
The Serbian army has shown that such a scenario will not happen!
Ready for whatever
In the last three years alone, more than 20 different types of weapons and artillery equipment have been introduced into the armament of the Serbian army, making the gunner and former Chief of the General Staff, General Miloje Miletic, especially proud. For a long time, Miletic was also the head of the G-5, that is, the Development Directorate of the Serbian Army General Staff, so he was well informed about the modernization of defense systems.
– The Serbian army needed such an exercise. In a relatively short period of time, a lot of weapon and tool stuff was obtained, and so it was important to see in practice how everything is networked in the system. At the same time, these exercises are crucial to see in which direction the Serbian armed forces should be further strengthened and modernized. What we have seen clearly shows that the Serbian army is capable of successfully responding to all security challenges and performing all the tasks that are placed before it, General Miletic notes.

Superior training
General Ljubisa Dikovic, the former chief of staff, with whom the modernization of the Serbian armed forces began, did not hide his enthusiasm for what he saw in Pester.
– We attended a great exercise for the pride of Serbia. Few people in the world dare to make this form of exercise public because it shows the degree of training and practice of the units and the composition. And we have seen that the training and practice are top-notch, General Diković notes.
We are getting stronger so we don’t go to war
General Branko Krga, also one of the legendary chiefs of the General Staff, did not hide his satisfaction at seeing the well-coordinated units of the Serbian army.
– Such military exercises are the correct way to verify the capacity of all branches of the armed forces, but the exercise also has a broader meaning for the security of the country, because such presentations send a clear message that Serbia has opportunities and is able to react in case of any security challenge. You can often hear in public how the Serbian army is arming and modernizing itself unnecessarily or doing so with hidden desires to enter new armed conflicts. But that is absolutely false. Every normal state strengthens its army not to wage war, but on the contrary, not to wage war. This is the best way to dissuade all those who have any aspirations towards Serbia, General Krga points out.
Let the bullies imagine
The President of Serbia and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, noted after the completion of Joint Exercise Sadejstvo 2020, that “the exceptional preparation, dexterity, training and equipping of the Serbian army members was demonstrated, of which everyone should be proud. “
– The Republic of Serbia and all its citizens are proud of their army. Many tools and weapons are displayed that people have not been able to see until now. They showed exceptional preparation, dexterity and training, but also that they are well equipped. That is a completely different image of the Serbian army. This is an army that is prepared and trained to save its country in case someone thinks of carrying out an attack against it. We are strengthening our army to deter any aggressor from attacking. We do not want, nor does it occur to us, to lead any aggressive conflict, to enter them – emphasized Vučić, adding that the exercise is a merit of all citizens of Serbia.
The Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense, Major General Dusko Zarkovic, delivered a model of the MiG-29 aircraft to President Vucic, and a model of the Mi-35 helicopter to Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin.
And Srpska sleeps peacefully
The Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, noted that “the great capacity displayed by the Armed Forces encourages and provides a message of capacity that Serbia can successfully defend its statehood and sovereignty.” He congratulated President Vučić for “the efforts he made to modernize the Army and in this way demonstrate that Serbia is absolutely committed to establishing regional peace, but is ready and determined to defend its territory.”
– We are a nation in two countries and for us in the Republika Srpska it is very important to know that Serbia is developing and strengthening every day. Serbia should no longer allow themselves to be greeted unprepared, Dodik said, regretting that the other two members of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency did not attend this exercise.
