October will be warmer than the average for our climate, said the director of the Hydrometeorological Institute of the Republic Jugoslav Nikolic, adding that it is too early to give reliable information on the long-term weather forecast, but that statistics indicate that this winter could be somewhat colder than the previous two, three.

In a statement to Tanjug, Nikolic said that the climatic situation that has affected Western Europe, in terms of extremely large amounts of precipitation, bypasses our area.

He indicated that in the coming days, until Thursday, a changeable climate with relatively small amounts of precipitation is expected, and that from Friday to October 15 there will be dry and sunny weather, with the characteristics of Miholjski leto. He added that from October 15 until the end of the month it will be variable again with some dry and humid days, and that October, in general, will be warmer than the average for that month, as far as our climate is concerned.

Regarding the long-term weather forecast, Nikolic said that it is too early to give reliable information on it, because every year a harmonization is carried out with all the experts from Southeast Europe and the Mediterranean.

He added that, as regards winter, this harmonization will be around November 20, and that then a long-term forecast will be issued.

– Statistics currently indicate that this winter could be a little colder than the previous two, three, with a somewhat greater amount of snow, but we will know that only in the second half of November, when all the experts will analyze the situation and harmonize their expectations – added Nikolic.
