Tina T., who denounced Miladin Kovačević for violence last week, was questioned today at the Belgrade First Basic Prosecutor’s Office as a victim, and after she also testified her sister Tamara, whom she turned to after an argument with Kovačević.
Tina T. told the prosecutor in detail what happened on the night of September 16 and stated that she was joining Kovačević’s criminal prosecution and that she was pointing out a property claim (for compensation).
A statement from the prosecution published on its website indicates that Tina T. said that on September 16, around 1 a.m., according to Kovacevic, she went to the apartment where she was staying, where they had an argument.
Then, as she said, he grabbed her hair with his right hand, threw her to the ground and dragged her down the hall of the building from the front door of the apartment to the elevator, threatening her the entire time.
While holding her by the hair, he slapped her on the right cheek with an open fist, and then with a fist in the area of her head, after which he abruptly released her, as a result of which she slammed her head against the floor.
He also stated that he immediately took a taxi to his sister TamaraT, as well as that he suffered bodily injuries in the area of the head in the event in question, but that he sought medical attention two days later because he was getting worse.
This is what Tina’s own sister said
Tamara T. stated that she was not immediately aware of the incident, but claimed that her sister Tina T arrived at her apartment that night around 3 p.m., that she was crying and that she told her that she had been beaten by suspect MK, that the victim was upset and stressed and cried all the time.
He also claimed that even though his sister Tina did not report the incident to the police, for fear that the suspect would “kill” her, she did so and that the police soon arrived.
He also warned that the injured party had wounds in the neck area and both legs, which was swollen, as well as that he complained that his head hurt, according to the prosecution in a statement.
It announces that in the course of the evidentiary process it will order a physical injury medical expert opinion, obtain video recordings from security cameras and, if necessary, take other actions “to fully and correctly determine the facts, after which it will make a decision in accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure “.
The prosecution filed an appeal against the decision of the judge of the preliminary diligence on Saturday, who rejected his proposal to order the custody of Kovacevic, since he had previously been convicted of a violent crime, in addition to not affecting the injured party and his sister, the prosecution told Tanjug. .
The decision on the appeal must be made by the extrajudicial criminal panel of the First Court of First Instance in Belgrade.
Kovacevic denies everything
For the moment, Kovacevic defends himself for freedom, with the measure of prohibiting him from approaching and communicating with Tina and her sister, which the investigating judge ordered instead of his arrest.
At the hearing at the Belgrade prosecutor’s office, Kovacevic flatly denied having threatened the girl and stated in his defense that he had seen her, but had not threatened or injured her that night.
A recording of their discussion appeared in the media after the incident.
Kovacevic is charged with the criminal offenses of endangering security and abuse and torture, because, as the prosecution suspects, he threatened the girl, pulled her hair and broke her phone.
Kovacevic has been known to the Serbian public for the case since May 2008, when he brutally beat a faculty colleague, Brian Steinhauer, at the Boston student club, and for which he was prosecuted in Serbia after fleeing the United States.
