Rodney stole the 150,000 euros from Betty. They met on social media five years ago and Beth fell in love with their love messages and tender words. She saved her entire life working as a clerk and social worker, before meeting a man from Africa, whom she even married in Ghana.
They met through a mutual friend and were connected by love of music. The friendship came at a difficult time for Beth, who felt lonely because her sister had died a few years earlier and her mother had been diagnosed with dementia.
Beth knew there was a big age difference, but Rodney initially told her he was 40 years old. First, Beth lent him 200 euros, and then another 2,000 euros for the purchase of music equipment, but he promised to return everything. Beth visited him in Ghana in 2015 and they were also intimate. She even took the stage at a club and asked her to marry him, and during the ceremony she revealed that Rodney was 30 years old.
She flew home and paid a lawyer to arrange a visa for her husband, which was approved in 2017, so Rodney moved in with her. Then things went downhill, Rodney constantly complaining and often slept on the couch instead of in bed. They started arguing about everything, especially her income and she soon realized that it was all a lie. Their relationship ended and Beth paid another 1,500 euros to send her home for a divorce. Her family was relieved when Rodney left her.
