The first basic prosecutor’s office ordered the taking of images with security cameras of the surroundings of the apartment in “Belgrade on the water”, in which the former basketball player Miladin Kovačević (30) allegedly abused and tortured his girlfriend Tijana T. ( 26).

Kovacevic was released today, after a hearing at the prosecution, to defend himself. A few days ago, his girlfriend Tijana T. reported that he assaulted her, stole her purse and mobile phone, and then fled the scene.

He is suspected of abusing, torturing, and endangering the safety of Tijana T.

According to “Blic,” the two had a short relationship, and she reported on Wednesday that Kovacevic was harassing her, but did not seek medical help. The First Basic Prosecutor’s Office said members of the Savski Venac Police Department informed the deputy prosecutor on duty the same day.

Then, the prosecution ordered the collection of information from the injured girl, verifying the existence and taking images from the security camera of the scene, in addition to questioning the suspect Kovacevic, as well as filing criminal charges against him for endangering security . As Kovacevic was unavailable to the prosecution for two days, the prosecution ordered the police to search for him, which they did. A few hours later, Kovacevic appeared alone at the police station.

As the prosecution previously announced that “considering that he is obviously a fugitive, he will be arrested after the police find him,” Kovacevic was immediately ordered to be arrested.

He was taken to the Prosecutor’s Office for questioning on Saturday, where he recounted in detail what was happening in the department, after which he was released to defend himself.

Meanwhile, investigators will also look at video surveillance footage near the apartment in “Belgrade on the water”, owned by Kovacevic’s friend, where, according to Tijana T., he beat her.

A video of the fight appeared; it is not known what happened next

A recording of their heated discussion, which allegedly took place on September 16, also appeared on social media yesterday, when, as reported by Tijana T., Kovacevic beat her. The recording shows someone knocking on the door of the apartment where Kovacevic is supposedly located. She moved the spy, while on the other side a female figure can be seen.

“Explain to me the reason for your blow, I did everything you wanted” – Kovacevic said through the closed door, to which the girl kept hitting and begging for it to open.

“I want to be with you, open me, I want to be with you” – said the girl, so that Kovacevic would respond:

“There is nothing like that Tina, with that behavior you never have to see me again.”

The girl in the video, supposed to be Tina, then said “sorry”.

– “Listen I’m sorry, I’m not 12!” – Kovacevic said at the end of the recording, which is interrupted while Tijana continues screaming from the other side of the door, in the hall.

The prosecution must determine whether the recording is credible, as well as what happened after the recording was interrupted.

Beaten before

In 2010, following the plea agreement, Kovacevic was sentenced to two years and three months in prison in the First Court of First Instance in Belgrade for a crime committed in the United States, more precisely for beating student Brian Steinhauer.

He was detained for two months in Belgrade, which was included in his sentence, and one month in the United States. He was released from Sombor prison at the end of November 2012, a few days before the expiration of his full sentence, following the application of the Amnesty Law.

After beating the American, Kovacevic arrived in Serbia with a temporary travel document (as the American judiciary confiscated his passport) with the help of the Serbian consulate in New York. Then the state of Serbia set aside $ 900,000 from the budget to compensate the beaten student.
