The Kruševac High Prosecutor’s Office requested a sentence of four and a half years in prison for Miloš Šaponjić and three and a half years for Marko Živković and Danijel Gmijović, accused of the incident in front of MZ Rasadnik in November 2018, when Borko Stefanović was attacked . and Boban Jovanović from Kruševac, as well as police officer Dejan Palibrk.

The trial chamber will read the verdict on Monday. Lawyer for those injured, Vladimir Todorić, says they are shocked by the proposed punishments, which he claims are at or below the legal minimum.

“They are charged with serious crimes punishable by 3 to 12 years in prison. The first defendant, Shaponjic, is also charged with the crime of assault on an official, for which he is threatened with between 2 and 8 years. The proposed sentences they are unacceptable and in a way for us, it is shocking what we hear, “says Todoric.

Todoric also claims that Shaponjic is a former member of the Gendarmerie, for which, among other things, he assaulted his former colleague, while the other two are “verdict collectors”, “who have already accomplished a lot”, and one of they are awaiting two more final verdicts.

“People who left the apartment during the state of emergency and went to the store and violated the self-isolation measure, even without infecting someone, have already been legally sentenced to three years,” says Todorić.

Borko Stefanovic says that after all, “it feels like a thrown rag”, as well as that the attack was “a criminal, bloody attack, robbing political dissidents.” It also alleges that the accused behaved inappropriately, arrogantly, laughing and yelling.

“I repeat that this was not a conflict, not a fight, but an assassination attempt, as we believe. Both the prosecutor and the judge must know that this is not just a matter of judgment for what they did to us. to this country, or there is only naked violence, ”says Stefanović.

At the end of today’s trial, two more witnesses were heard, visitors to the rostrum, as well as a forensic expert from Nis, who remained with the finding and additional opinion previously submitted.

The interim prosecutor Srdjan Zivic stated that he believes that the guilt of the defendants has been unequivocally proven, that in that sense the most significant testimony of the policeman Dejan Palibrok, who recognized Gmijovic and Zivkovic-Buvac on the spot and suffered a minor bodily injury, when he prevented Shaponjic from hitting the injured Stefanović who was on the ground.

He also mentioned numerous inconsistencies and contradictions in the statements of the accused, and finally added that the lists also showed a clear communication between the accused.

The defense believed that the prosecution did not prove guilt, and the lawyer Jovana Vuckovic-Pejcic, who represents the three defendants, pointed out in her final statements that there were discrepancies in the testimonies of several witnesses, and that the witnesses coincided in only one place. there were more people. She noted that her clients are inactive in politics.

“We finished presenting all the evidence today, we gave the last word, and we are awaiting the court’s decision,” attorney Jovana Vuckovic-Pejcic said after the hearing.
