He claims that he is exchanging information with them, as well as that he hopes that the Novi Sad “bully”, who brutally beat a young man, will be arrested soon.
Rebi also told TV Pink that people’s claims that the police began to deal with the case were false only when it appeared in the media and emphasized that there was no cover-up or inaction.
“These are absolutely nonsensical claims,” Rebi said, adding that all actions in this case can be seen in the records.
“The internal control service of the Ministry of the Interior is carrying out a detailed analysis of all the actions, it is a period of 20 days and if someone made a mistake they will be held responsible. There are no delays or inaction. We do not discuss this case in the media We were under pressure to do nothing and we had to make a statement, “Rebi said.
He pointed out that the politicization of the case could not prevent the case from being solved, but hindered them because they were wasting time on secondary work and explanations.
“I am in constant contact with the director of the police of Montenegro and other neighboring countries, we are exchanging information, I hope that this perpetrator will be arrested very soon,” Rebi said.
He stressed that the police immediately began working on the case.
“We learned about the incident from the medical workers, who helped the unfortunate young man and we spoke with him the same day. He did not want to cooperate with the police, he said that he was attacked by unknown persons,” said the police director.
He added that on August 27, two days later, a police officer called him again and wanted to speak with him again to find out any information, but he did not want to make a statement and said that he would come later with a lawyer. He did it on September 2.
“Then we found out the names of the people, and in the meantime we managed to get videos,” Rebi said, noting that everything was done in agreement with the acting prosecutor, who initially called the crime a serious bodily injury and only later qualified as the other two young men. as helpers and participants on Tuesday.
Commenting on a car explosion in New Belgrade today, in which one person was killed, and the opposition’s claims that Serbia is an unsafe country, Rebi says those claims have been superseded.
“I don’t know on the basis of ego and how they can give that information,” Rebi said, emphasizing that statistics show that in Serbia in the last three-four-five years the death toll is around 100, and that at some previous period was vastly greater. .
Rebi compared the data from Serbia with other countries in the world and stated that Serbia is among the safest countries when calculating the number of deaths per million inhabitants.
As you said, out of a million citizens of Serbia, on average, 13 people lost their lives in the last three, four or five years.
On the other hand, as he stated, in France, 14 people lose their lives for every million inhabitants, while in Hungary that figure is 24, as well as in Albania.
He assessed that it is clear that Serbia is safer than other countries, and that it is roughly at the level of France and Great Britain.
He added that he was convinced that the police would also solve this murder today.
“The clearance rate for the criminal act of murder last year is at the 95% level,” Rebi emphasized.
