Aleksandar Živković (21) from Pejkovac and Danilo Cvetković (22) from Samarinovac, both near Žitorađa, died in the night between Saturday and Sunday when they collided with a truck with a car. The seriously injured Opel driver Aleksandar Jović (26) from Prokuplje, who was in a coma, passed away in the afternoon. Passengers Aleksa Cekić (19) and Andjela Marković (22) from Samarinovac were slightly injured. The truck driver, Ranko R. from the village of Podgorica, was not injured.
This serious traffic accident is a continuation of this weekend’s black series on the roads of Serbia. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, four more young people aged 4, 16, 17 and 24 years old died near Vrnjačka Banja, Novi Pazar and Aleksinac, and 15 people were injured in other traffic, including two children!
The tragedy on the Prokuplje-Zitoradja highway, near the town of Lukomi, occurred on Sunday around one after midnight. As we learned, the accident occurred when Aleksandar Jović crossed the “Opel Insignia” into the opposite lane and collided with the truck.
UNBELIEF IN THE PEOPLE Young men, for example
Everyone has words of praise for the young people who died in these two towns.
– They were calm, young for example. Terrible sadness, terrible fate – say the locals. The aunt of the victim Živković told us that Aleksandar’s mother went to take care of her son’s body.
– His father is in Skopje, he drives a bus. Now they have come looking for him and we are waiting for him at the end of the day. Aleksandar was a good young man, everyone in the village knows it – says our interlocutor.
At that fatal moment, the car was heading towards Prokuplje, and most likely Jović, according to eyewitnesses, was driving too fast.
– When he crossed to the opposite side of the road, he hit the truck with his left side. That rear end is completely flattened. Behind Aleksandar Jović were Aleksandar Živković, alongside him Danilo Cvetković, and to the left Andjela Mladenović. Aleksa Cekić was in the passenger seat, locals say. Andjela Markovic, an “Opel” passenger, who suffered minor injuries, tells Kurir that she was sitting behind the passenger.
Strong hit
– We were all engaged. We stayed until the end, and then we drove with two cars to Prokuplje, to a club that was still open. I sat in the back behind the passenger and looked at the phone. At one point, I felt like the car was going from left to right, but I thought the driver Aleksandar Jović was joking. The next moment, I saw that we were turning towards the truck and I felt a strong blow.
TRAGEDY NEAR ALEKSINAC A girl (4) died when she ran out of the car on the road
A four-year-old girl from Mataruška Banja was killed when a “Citroen” hit her in the area of the village of Vukašinovac on the Aleksinac-Ražanj road. Eyewitnesses to Kurir’s horrible accident claim that the tragedy occurred at around 4pm yesterday at the Deligrad entrance and that the girl was in the car.
– The car, in which there were two more children, stopped by the road. I don’t know why they stopped, but I think they wanted to go to the bathroom. At one point, the girl ran from the vehicle onto the road and was hit by a car driven by a local. Due to the force of the impact, the boy flew a few meters, says an eyewitness.

The car fell into the gutter, the door opened and I was left hanging half in the car, half outside. Alexa fell at my feet and Danilo fell on us. I hit my head on the ground and then Alexa pulled me out of the car, Angela says. She adds, through tears and in shock, that her colleagues were in the car in front and did not know what had happened.
I took photos of all of them
– I should have been in that other car too. When we were moving, I was sitting in Jovic’s car in the middle, where Danilo was, but I switched to another car, and then Jovic’s again. By then they were all seated and that’s why I was behind the passenger. That saved me, fate – says the girl while his hands are shaking. Angela says that she cannot calm down and while her parents comfort her saying that it is good that she does not hurt herself, she cries.
– I will always remember those moments. Maybe half an hour before, I took photos of everyone with Danilo’s phone, because they were looking for him. We were all happy, our friend got married and then everything turned into a nightmare, and our friends left – he adds. Couldn’t bear it

- Nemanja P. (24) died in the night between Friday and Saturday near Novi Pazar when her car collided with a pole, two were injured
- On the road near Novi Banovci, a car collided with a bus, injuring two girls and two women
- On Saturday night, on the road near Umčar, “Yugo” hit a parked vehicle, the driver of “Juga” was seriously injured.
- Ivan M. (66) died yesterday in a car accident on the Rača-Topola highway, when he landed in an off-road jeep and rolled over.
Trucker Ranko R. had no alcohol in his blood. As we learned at the Nis Clinical Center, Aleksandar Jović, the driver of the “Opel”, was in mortal danger when he was taken away.
– He died yesterday afternoon from multiple injuries to the head, chest and abdomen – we were told at KC Nis.
