Members of the Ministry of the Interior in Novi Sad arrested NP (49) due to the existence of grounds to suspect that he committed the crime of illicit sexual activity.
He is suspected of inappropriately touching an eight-year-old girl. The suspect was detained for up to 48 hours and will be taken to the competent prosecutor’s office, along with a criminal report.
Igor Jurić, director of the Tijana Jurić Foundation, told TV Kurir that this is another consecutive case.
– Novi Sad has become a center for pedophilia, but I must highlight the excellent work of the police in the National Assembly. I must praise the police for this case and say that this fight must continue throughout Serbia. It is not just cities that are in danger, a lot is happening in smaller places and we should focus on that side, Jurić said.
He adds that lately, the number of complaints of pedophiles has increased compared to previous years.
– We have encouraged victims to report abusers, trials must be shorter, penalties must be increased, and cases must be resolved faster.
Jurić points out that it is difficult for children to decide to report abusers, and such is the case of the abuse of a child from the National Assembly.
– Serbia must work on witness protection – Jurić told TV Kurir.
