The last such case was recorded in the afternoon of September 2, when a bus with Serbian registration arrived at the control line, carrying passengers on the regular Valjevo – Traun (Austria) line. Although neither the passengers nor the drivers reported carrying anything subject to customs control, customs officials, in cooperation with the police, conducted a thorough search that revealed 114 psychoactive tablets in the luggage of the 45-year-old passenger from Valjevo. In addition to the usual things, his travel bag also contained 90 tablets of the drug “Bromazepam” of 3 mg, as well as 24 tablets of the same drug of 1.5 mg.
Just four days earlier, on August 29, three more cases were prevented at the same crossing and nearly 700 tablets of various sedatives were seized. The most notable case was the attempt by a 60-year-old man from Šabac, who traveled by bus from Serbia to Austria, to smuggle up to 600 1.5 mg tablets of the drug “Lexilium” in his luggage. The medications were packed in the passenger’s suitcase, and he had no medical documentation for them.
Two more passengers with identical intentions were discovered on the same bus. In the suitcase of a 51-year-old passenger from Topola, 30 tablets of the drug “Rivotril” of 2 mg, 28 tablets of the drug “Velafax” of 75 mg, as well as 4 tablets of the drug “Velax” were found, while that in the luggage of a 60-year-old passenger from Belgrade discovered 32 tablets of the drug “Bensedin” of 5 mg.
As they are drugs containing psychoactive substances, they were permanently seized immediately after their discovery, while the police initiated criminal proceedings against the aforementioned passengers.
