First, Our Father and incense, so that the hour begins. In short, this is how the announcement of one of the parents about the proposal of a teacher of the Viber group can be recounted, which appeared on social networks and caused a storm of comments.
That is, the day before the school bells marked the start of the school year, the teacher at the primary school “Ivo Lola Ribar” in Novi Sad sent a proposal to the parents of her students. Says the following:
– Do you agree that we light incense in our classroom every day before the start of classes and say the Lord’s Prayer? It is written in the message about the Viber parent group written by a teacher from a fourth grade class.
Under the question, the parents were left with the possibility to vote if they agree with that proposal or not, and the vast majority, more precisely 18 parents supported the teacher’s proposal, while a few opposed.
Below the post, there is a picture indicating that there is no virus dying in the house where it turns on every day.
The post was quickly shared on social media and sparked countless comments. One of the mothers who shared the teacher’s question wondered if it was possible to ask such a thing, and that Serbia is a secular state.
Most of the comments below the post were that it was “scary” and “creepy”.
Following the announcement, we contacted both the mother who shared everything on Facebook for comment, and the teacher whose identity we discovered. However, there was no response from either party.
