Suri eagle hit by a gunshot, the bird died on the way to Belgrade

BELGRADE – The Society for the Protection and Study of Birds of Serbia (DZPPS) announced today that a golden eagle was killed in Uvac and that a report was submitted to the competent prosecutor for killing a strictly protected species.

According to the DZPPS announcement on Twitter, the security worker of the hydroelectric power station “Uvac” noticed on Saturday the young raw wounded eagle in the yard of that hydroelectric power station and informed the guard service of SRP “Uvac”.

As explained, the bird was examined by veterinarian Bogdan Šojić, who claimed that he had been shot with a firearm, that the biller’s wounds were several days old and infected.

“Dr. ojić gave the bird first aid, but the exhausted bird died during transport to the Beo Zoo, where it was supposed to be placed for treatment and repair,” says DZPPS.

As he adds, a report has been presented to the competent Prosecutor’s Office for the killing of a strictly protected species, for now against unidentified persons.

“We give all the support to the investigative bodies in the search for the perpetrator of this heinous act!”, They say from DZPPS.
