Tonight, the border crossing between Mali Zvornik and Zvornik was operational again, with the opening of the famous King Alexander I Karadjordjevic pedestrian bridge, following the year-long reconstruction.

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic assessed this news as beautiful and important for the local population, who will cross the Drina much more easily.

He points out that the opening of the bridge will be important for businessmen in this border area, and as he says, the Ministry of the Interior and members of the Border Police will do everything possible to further facilitate the life and work of the local population.

“What the Government of the Republic of Serbia has already done is to finance a large part of the reconstruction of the bridge, which was inaugurated more than 90 years ago and whose rehabilitation was necessary,” said Stefanović.

The Serbian government contributed 600,000 euros for the reconstruction of the 150-meter-long and 7.2-meter-wide bridge, and the rest to the municipality of Zvornik.

The bridge over the Drina between Zvornik and Mali Zvornik was built with funds from King Alexander I Karadjordjevic and the Ministry of Construction of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, completed in late 1929 and opened to traffic by King Alexander a year later, and the then Zvornik municipality decided to name the bridge in his honor. to the founder King Alexander.
