The candidate for the presidency of the Democratic Party, Branislav Lecic, affirmed that, if elected to that position, he will first consolidate the party.

“The first thing is to fix the relations in the DS. When the elections are over, if I am elected, the first thing will be the consolidation of the party, which means that it must become strong and united,” Lecic told reporters in Kalemegdan, where he introduced the members of the DS. his programme.

He pointed out that he would never expel anyone from the party, as well as that he would call on current president Zoran Lutovac “to get involved in all of history and belong to our group and start building something very important, and that is the social democratic wing of the opposition.”

“All the social democratic parties will be invited to dialogue and we will try to unite them, to represent an opposition bloc that knows clearly programmatically what it wants and what it can present to Serbia,” Lecic said.

He said that his program consists of three points.

“The first is that we must civilize our Serbia without concessions by joining the European Union, because there are rules there that we must respect,” Lecic said.

According to him, “a rebirth of society is necessary for us to achieve civic consciousness.”

The second item on his agenda is civil Serbia, Lecic said, adding that “it is legal, legitimate and necessary to fight to restore dialogue and understanding.”

Lecic said that the third point of his program is “equality and human rights, which means the rule of law of equality and the possibility of equal opportunities for all.”

“Serbia can progress and preserve its national identity and its economic and substantial human being only if it accepts democratic principles and forms a civil society,” Lecic noted.

When asked to comment on Lutovac’s statement that a disciplinary process will be initiated against the faction that called the party’s internal elections in two days, if it does not stop “misleading the public and presenting itself falsely,” Lecic assessed that “they are some frustrated idiots from a party that failed. ” recognize that this is a great opportunity to unite, not only the DS, but also democratic ideas. “

Lecic said that Lutovac no longer has that kind of authority, that he is still the party president, but only formally directs it in the electoral period.

“The politics we represent is the politics that absolutely every Democrat should want. If we have communication, it is a sign that we should be together,” Lecic said.

He claimed that Lutovac had been violating the party’s statute for a long time and was “ruining the DS and, in a way, its chances.”
