Mountain rain and snow are expected to arrive tonight and, according to Marko Čubril’s calculation, the weather will continue to worsen and cool from Monday, so on Tuesday afternoon, except in the mountains, heavy snow could fall to the lowest areas.
As he states, “currently the two main models are very snowy, and the ECMWF’s overnight budget is very close to extreme in that regard.”
– If the current simulations of this model were run Tuesday afternoon and evening towards the center of much of the region, including most of the lowlands, they would bring true winter weather. However, I think that the model simulation in terms of the amount of snow for the lowlands will calm down a bit as the date approaches, because such scenarios would bring one of the biggest snowfalls of April to much of the region, but it is increasingly likely that we will return to the real winter, at least for a short time. Prepare for the arrival of the rain and snow from the mountain – he added.
The specialized portal Severe Weather Europe has a similar vision of the meteorological situation in the coming days for the part of Europe in which we live. According to their announcements, the winter days for the Balkans will be Tuesday and Wednesday, while the rest of Europe will freeze from the beginning of the week.
“Arctic cold blast”
In other words, Severe Weather Europe writes that the old continent expects “a very dramatic change in weather for the Easter holidays.” As already mentioned, the “historic arctic cold” will hit the UK and Ireland first, and then spread to Central Europe, the Mediterranean and the Balkans.
The portal recalls that in the second week of April, temperatures mostly rise and vegetation flourishes, but that the cold wave that is coming this April can make it one of the coldest in certain parts of Europe.
As for the Balkans, the announcements are also dramatic.
As they say, “On Tuesday, a lot of snow will form with blizzards around the Alps and the Balkans.” It even predicts between 20 and 30 cm of snow in certain parts of the peninsula.
The good news for us is that, judging from the maps posted on the site, this will not apply to Serbia. Snow is forecast for the western part of the Balkans, mainly Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, but the cold air mass will cover most of the Balkans, causing a drop in temperatures in our country as well.
