The EKO-Pancevacki rit association discovered a wild dump of dead animals about 10 kilometers from the center of Belgrade, near the Vizelj pig farm. Zoran Janković from this association tells Nova.rs that he was in the field together with the inspectors, so he was surprised and angry when he saw the notification saying that the veterinary inspection did not find anything within its competence. He warns that a wild dump with more than 1,000 animal carcasses could become a breeding ground for infection and a source of an unbearable stench.

Janković from the EKO-Pančevački rit association explains to Nova.rs that after citizens reported, he found a dump of dead pigs less than a kilometer from Kovilovo, 3 km from Borča, less than 4 km from Padinska Skela, about 7 km from Zemun and about 10 km from the center of Belgrade.

As he noted in the March 4 photos, he found a large number of animal carcasses at the reported location. He immediately reported everything to the veterinary inspection of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, and on March 9 he visited the place with the inspectors.

After that, a notification came from the Ministry stating that the inspection only found “large earth mounds and communal waste.” Therefore, as indicated, the report was forwarded to the Secretariat for Inspection Affairs in Belgrade, because the case is not within the competence of the veterinary inspection.

“They did not do the job correctly. We are very angry. I am currently writing an objection to the notification of the measures taken. We took them there and showed them, they saw everything, they know everything, so we were shocked when we received the minutes yesterday” says Janković.

He affirms that on that occasion he took the tools and asked the inspectors if he should dig up the soil that was applied to the corpses, to which they replied that there was no need and that “everything is clear.”

They also claimed that they found communal garbage there. It’s not communal trash, it’s medical trash, which is what I photographed, “he says.

He explains that even today he visited the place with the members of the association and noticed new photos.

“Now the ground has been dug up by predators: foxes, rats, jackals, who are trying to reach the carcasses and succeed. They feed on them, “says Janković.

Remember that a decree of special measures has been in force in Serbia since last year due to the proclamation of the African plague, which was approved by the same Ministry.

And now they allow more than 1,000 pigs to remain buried like this in a wild dump. They did not take any samples to determine the cause of death of the pigs, “he says and warns:

“The fermentation of corpses has already started, the whole of Belgrade will stink and the entire left bank of the Danube when it is over 20 degrees. The mosquitoes have started and are the biggest carriers of the infection. “

He says that despite being surprised by the reaction of the authorities, the activists will not abandon the fight until the problem is solved.
