It was necessary to take stricter measures before

The infectious disease specialist and member of the Crisis Staff, Mijomir Pelemis, says that the current epidemiological situation is the result of insufficient respect for prevention measures. He states that the vaccination process is in danger due to the large number of infected people.

Mijomir Pelemis said that he was not surprised by the increase in the number of people suffering from coronavirus, because the measures are not really respected. As he said, stricter measures needed to be taken earlier, and that would certainly reduce the concentration of the virus, reduce contacts, and thus reduce infections.

Asked if it is certain that the measures will be extended on Monday, he said that nothing is certain and that it will be seen how the spread of the infection will move in the next period.

He believes that no momentous results can be felt in five days, but that it may contribute to less spread of the virus.

“The biggest problem for us now is that the hospitals are full and the health workers are too tired,” Pelemis said, noting that everyone should be given great credit because it is more difficult for those who are constantly with patients.

He adds that we have to do everything possible to facilitate their work and reduce the number of patients.

However, he points out that the biggest problem for him is the number of deaths. The problems are self-medication, improper treatment, the fact that patients in some cases do not take the disease seriously, but also new strains of the virus.

As he says, the new strains for citizens do not change anything, because the measures are the same: wear masks, distance, hygiene and avoid contact.

He says that the main task is to test as much as possible, respect preventive measures and vaccines.

It warns that the vaccination process is in danger due to the large number of infected people. As he says, the vaccination process started out great, but the real story that vaccines are safe must be used and spread.
