Bogdan Gajić (24) from Šabac was sentenced to ten years in prison for the murder of his older brother Ignjat. Gajić was convicted in the first instance proceedings by the Šabac High Court, to which he has the right of appeal.

The news of this murder, which occurred in August 2019, shocked the whole of Serbia. Bogdan Gajić killed his two-year-old brother Ignjat at the family home, and police arrested him at a regular checkpoint while pushing a body covered with a white sheet into a construction cart in the middle of the night. There was an ax and a shovel in the wheelchair with which he intended to bury his brother in the bushes, not far from the house where they lived.
The motive for the brother’s murder was allegedly the problematic behavior of the victim Ignjat Gajić, who, after many years of torture and abuse by the whole family, was convicted by his brother.
In post-murder statements, neighbors stated that Ignjat was troublesome and violent, ran away from home, and some said he had a problem with drugs and the law.
In 2012, the Gajić family first reported to the police that Ignjat was abusing them, and in 2016, domestic violence was repeated.
The night the murder occurred, the parents were absent. From day one, the investigation was based on the assumption that Bogdan had killed his brother with a boxer and a knife before noon, and at dawn the next day, he headed in the direction of the forest near the water supply system. to get rid of the body.
Bogdan was said to be extremely quiet and withdrawn, interested in psychology and displaying a talent for painting.
