The zero series of the M-20 MRAP 6X6 armored vehicle will also be produced, intended for the transport of infantry units.
As the director of the company Zoran Adi told the Beta agency, there is interest in the Zastava NTV vehicle from national public companies and foreign buyers from the Middle East and North Africa, both in the military and civil versions.
“The series production of this SUV will create new jobs. The factory already employs 100 workers, and in the first quarter of this year 50 more metal workers, locksmiths, mechanics, tinsmiths and painters will be needed,” said the director. .
He affirmed that the problem is to obtain metallurgical workforce because workers of that profile are also in demand in other large companies in Umadija.
Adi announced that during the year testing and production of the zero series of the M-20 MRAP 6X6 armored vehicle will begin, which, according to his regime, is characterized by a high degree of ballistics and protection against mines.
Zastava TERVO company was established by decision of the Government of Serbia in August 2017 as a company with limited liability for the production of off-road vehicles.
Zastava TERVO is the holder of all licenses and technical-technological documentation of the root for the production in Zastava trucks.

It should be remembered that, as indicated on the website of the Ministry of Defense, in order that the Serbian Army in technological terms does not lag behind any other army in our environment, and with the aim of equipping itself with products first. domestic that are the fruit of domestic intelligence. the industry can implement it on its own, the Zastava NTV vehicle was introduced into the armaments of the Serbian army in December 2019, and production of the zero series began in early January 2020.
The Zastava Tervo 1.4t 4×4 (NTV) off-road vehicle is a modern concept domestic vehicle, “four by four”, with independent suspension and automatic transmission, which in combination with the propulsion distributor and the modern engine give optimal characteristics of wool dynamics. and behavior in This vehicle was introduced into the armament of the Serbian Army in December 2019, and at the beginning of January 2020 production of the zero series began in the 1 + 2 FREIGHT and 1 + 8 VAN versions ”, he adds.
The Zastava Tervo 1.4t 4×4 (NTV) is equipped with a four-stroke turbodiesel engine with CUMMINS “common rail” engine, a displacement of 3760 cm3, a nominal power of 125 kW (170 hp) and a maximum torque of 600 Nm. The engine uses Euro-diesel fuel, with an average consumption of 15-22 l / 100 km, depending on surface and load conditions. The maximum speed of the vehicle is about 100 km / h. The declared load capacity of the vehicle is 1400 kg, but the maximum load capacity characteristics of the selected axles and tires allow a certain reserve of load capacity, which can be used to increase the ballistics of the vehicle protection, by the installation of additional armor or additional weapons.
The Zastava Tervo 1.4t 4×4 (NTV) family vehicles can successfully replace the obsolete vehicles of the Serbian army fleet, which have a similar declared load capacity, mainly vehicles whose resources have expired and which have a maintenance problem due to the inability to provide spare parts. The tests of the new off-road vehicle (NTV) were carried out in the second half of 2019, organized by the Military Technical Institute and with the participation of representatives of the Technical Test Center (TOC), vehicle manufacturers Zastava Tervo-Kragujevac and manufacturer representatives. of engines and gearboxes.
On that occasion, the functional and operational safety of the NTV vehicle prototypes, intended for the transport of cargo and people, was verified.
The tests were carried out under intense odor under field conditions on the intersecting turf of Deliblato Pearl and highly demanding terrains of Zlatibor and Fruka Gora, which are characterized by mountainous and hilly macadam. Each one of these terrains individually assigned a different character to the load-bearing structures of the prototypes, so the dynamic behavior of the vehicle as a whole was observed and analyzed.
The vehicle prototypes have also been subjected to a series of tests in accordance with their military norms and standards, on the basis of which the reliability, durability, functionality and safety of this category of vehicle have been demonstrated. The vehicle operation verification was tested when overcoming a water obstacle, alternating threshold obstacle, as well as overcoming the ascent by floor, side slope, ditch. The tests were conducted at the NAVAK training grounds in Subotit and at the testing ground of the Experimental Technical Center in Nikinci.
M-20 MRAP 6×6
In June this year, a presentation of the features and capabilities of the new M-20 MRAP 6×6 armored fighting vehicle was held at the Zastava TERVO plant in Kragujevac.
It is a vehicle whose purpose is the safe transport of units and which has a high level of ballistics and protection against mines. In addition, the ability to open fire from a vehicle places it in the range of the best global solutions in that category.
The presentation of the vehicles at that time was attended by Minister Aleksandar Vulin, who pointed out that the medium-term objective of our army was to ensure that no soldier was transported in a canvas truck.
“For us, it is a big step forward to have a new vehicle, which is capable of transporting our units safely, safely and quickly, while protecting them from the effects of several small arms shots, but also from several mines. the countries in the world that can to make a vehicle like this, there are about ten, “he said this summer.
The Undersecretary of Material Resources, Dr. Nenad Miloradovi, pointed out that the M-20 6×6 vehicle is a key factor to guarantee the protected mobility of the Serbian army, which is expected to be carried out through two families of national armored fighting vehicles.
The first family is already known, they are ‘Lazar’ and ‘Milo’, vehicles that are based on automatic components with independent suspension, from the main manufacturers in the world and are in the class of combat vehicles that are normally used in the armies of Western Europe. The second family is based on automatic components – reliable, robust, produced in FAP. These are 6×6 vehicles, like this one, and 4×4 vehicles. It is a very high-quality axle-dependent suspension system produced in FAP, under a Mercedes license, and the rest of the components are also of the highest quality ”, explains Miloradovi, adding that equipping with vehicles from another family is much less, and that when At the same time, a much larger number of vehicles can be manufactured with the same equipment.
Regarding the level of protection of the vehicle, Miloradovi pointed out that the quality achieved is the result of the joint work of the engineers of the Military Technical Institute, Zastava TERVO and FAP, as well as that he is satisfied with the results obtained, and for the large space Inside it carries 3 plus 9 soldiers.
“The vehicle has modularity characteristics that will allow it to be processed for different purposes, for the transport of heavy cargo, injured people, etc. It can transport different types of weapons, and from the logistical aspect it is important that these are all components that are mainly produced in our country. countries ”, explained Miloradovi, is stated on the website of the Ministry of Defense.
According to Lieutenant Lazar Stojni of the Department of Classic Weapons of the Military Technical Institute, who is the director of the project for the development of this vehicle, it is a 6X6 armored fighting vehicle type MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambuch Protected) and was manufactured in the Asian platform FAP 2228. used in our armament. Speaking of protection levels, in addition to the basic level of protection, additional modular armor was developed, which, as Lt. Stojni added, will be used depending on the purpose of the vehicle in the Serbian army.
“In regards to the combat characteristics of this vehicle, it has a 12.7mm turret and openings on the sides and roof as an escape for the crew inside and it can operate from inside the vehicle”, said Lt. Stojni, adding that a fully armored vehicle that provides protection for the crew and has mine protection at the bottom.
